What about the stabbings?
They have lots of those in East Boston too. They need to focus on the violence, not cherry pick their problems.
They will be addressing the violence...
This is discussing all aspects of the gang war between Maverick and Chelsea thugs in the Maverick Landing complex, including helping the residents cope with the events. The stabbings are gang related (MS13 v. 18th St). The shootings are gang related. Last week on the T was gang related.
Also, don't begrudge residents getting help with coping with the trauma.
I won't begrudge if they are open.
To come out and say, "We're talking about gun violence" leaves out a WHOLE WIDE area of violence. To be perfectly honest, to focus on only one aspect of violence is completely stupid.
These individuals aren't running out and killing each other just because they get a gun. They're doing this because they have an immense lack of opportunity.
Flame away, but seriously think about it.
18th Street, where is that?
I can't find that in either East Boston or Chelsea.

Simple misnomer
They didn't want to say the meeting was about gang violence, even if it is.
School departments
in Chelsea, Revere, Boston need to start getting involved in catching these kids young I am talking elementary school, with some type of prevention measures. Reach out to the parents if possible and let them know their "good boy" might be into trouble.
The Umana, for example, is a a ripe breeding ground for targeting new recruits. By the time they are in high school its almost too late to help. These are dangerous brutal gangs worse than any hood or click around Boston is used to. Something needs to be done they are in our schools with innocent kids possibly in the crossfire just like the bystander on the Blue Line was. Three young teens dead in three months and they, or possibly their killers, were sitting next to kids trying to get their educations. This is while the BPS promotes East Boston schools to unsuspecting parents who don't know about the Central American gang members also in attendance.
Any updates on this meeting?

Feds did huge raids today in Eastie, Chelsea and other areas. Don't know what was discussed last night, as I could not attend the meeting. However, the people arrested today are causing a lot of the problems discussed last night.
Boom!
