Harvard Square Panera shuts forever; Harvard students besides themselves
By adamg on Tue, 03/01/2016 - 7:29am
The Crimson reports Panera's Boston-area retrenchment claimed another victim yesterday:
Michael A. Kikukawa '17 was unaware of Panera’s closing when he ordered dinner through the restaurant’s mobile app. Only after completing his order did Kikukawa realize that it was being fulfilled at Panera’s Porter Square location.
“I was horrified,” Kikukawa said.

Yes, that's just the word to describe this Crimson snowflake's reaction to such a life-changing event.
One wonders how the rest of dear Michael's Harvard experience has gone.
Ohhhhh come on. The whole
Ohhhhh come on. The whole article is written in a low-key Onion tone. Look at the photo caption, as well as any of the other quotes.
**Some students were particularly struck by the lack of prior notice on an otherwise sunny Monday.
“As it stands, my last Panera visit was three days ago, and I would have taken more time to appreciate the meal had I known it were my last,” Halle A. Orr ’16 said. “We can make it through this tragedy. Maybe.”**
yes
i was wondering if it was an april fool article (a month early)
“I almost cried,” Kikukawa

it was pretty obviously
it was pretty obviously tongue-in-cheek.
Paneranormal Activity
Seen it? A horrifying movie about the floating apparition of a rejected focaccia loaf, which vengefully terrorizes Panera stores, forcing them into submission, resulting in store closures and extreme student discontent.
T&P
My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael in his time of need. Stay strong buddy.
Elsie's is more better!

Panera? eh.
Imagine how they'd feel if they knew about the Wursthaus or the Tasty.
RIP best workspace in Harvard Square
While I'm loath to defend another cookie-cutter chain restaurant, that Panera had free wifi, outlets, and was usually not too crowded so it was a great place to get work done. Hopefully whatever replaces it keeps that going.
Panera
That's their preferred closing method, zero notification. The West Roxbury location opened as usual one morning and the employees were told at noon that day the store would be closing immediately. Not a very community friendly Corp. despite their PR.
Yes
They should give the community at least a month's notice before closing so they can stock up on baguettes and chocolate chip cookies. Such a mean company.
Tatte is coming
Boston.com reports that the space will be taken over by a new branch of the local Tatte chain:

And Eater Boston confirms this:

Interesting that Panera recently purchased a part ownership share in Tatte, and now Panera is passing off its lease for this space to its new business partner.
And it's even more interesting that boston.com is still in the business of breaking news stories, rather than just amalgamating news items from places like Universal Hub!
