Citizen complaint of the day: Table in a tree

A table in a tree on Beacon Hill

Maybe Beacon Hill squirrels are bulking up, or maybe, as a concerned citizen complains, the wind blew this table into that tree at Mt. Vernon and River streets. In any case:

Poses danger of falling in someone, please help extract.

About once or twice a year you see busted plastic chairs that have flow off a roof during high wind. Never seen a table.

something worthy of calling 911 over.

Even though it seems silly to report what's essentially garbage to 911, it poses an eminent hazard to passerby and therefore is an emergency.

We must ban rogue outdoor furniture before we lose more trees to this tacky utilitarian affliction.

I know Howie Carr says it to exaggerate 'tragic' matters, but anyone know the origins of the joke?

It's a send up of legislators being all talk and no action.

"How many more innocent lives must we lose before we take action? How many more?"

Applies to just about any horrible event.

Edited: You probably already knew everything I typed above. I've got nothing on a gloomy Monday after Spring Forward.

I always imagine former Congressman Byrd when I hear it but I'm not sure why.

Has the Beacon Hill Civic Association approved tables in trees? Is this table correct for this species of tree?

Table down

DD808 provides the photographic proof that the table is no longer a Menace from Above.
