the festival, which traditionally took place...at City Hall Plaza, will now take place annually on Memorial Day weekend and relocate to a new location in nearby Allston with expanded capacity.
How is Allston "nearby"? It's about as "in the boonies" as you can get and still be in Boston. I used to live a mile from there in LA and the transportation to the area of the Harvard athletic facilities is horrible. I have yet to understand how this is going to continue to be a success, but I guess time will tell.

NYC = Run by Unions
These new folks will be used to how things are done back home. The Boston folks will seem like a bunch of rookies.

It's like a ten minute walk
It's like a ten minute walk from Harvard Square. And they have parking facilities. Couldn't be that bad a choice.
Allston is the boonies?
Have you ever heard of East Boston? Neponset? Mattapan? Hyde Park? Readville? West Roxbury? These are all within the Boston city limits.
Harvard Stadium is a reasonably short walk from Harvard Square. According to Google Maps, it's less than 4 miles from City Hall Plaza.
