Because this is so BAD and it has been pretty much since the fare increase in July. Why there has not been any sort of organized outrage or official response to the almost daily delays, ," mechanical failures" and outright cancellations on the Newburyport/Rockport line is beyond me.
I now pay $245. a month for this 'service'....I'm not sad, I'm irate!

I have heard rumors from credible sources that these "mechanical issues" are more staffing related than actual mechanical issues. I'm leaning towards believing them based on http://boston.cbslocal.com/2016/06/20/mbta-commuter-rail-cancellations-s...

The problem on June 19th was that nobody who wasn't scheduled to work wanted to fill in for missing crews, because it was Father's Day.

I take the Franklin/Forge Park train (5:45pm out of South Station) and a couple of weeks ago we were delayed for around 40-45 minutes because, after boarding and waiting to move for a period of time, we were told that our train had no engineer to drive the train. Basically, we had to wait for another train (Worcester line) to come in so that driver could drive our train. We also had to wait for another conductor to transfer from the same train to ours. The worse part (and I do not know why the conductors do this) is that we were told it would only be a 5 minute wait! At 30 minutes, I got up to walk the platform and met the said engineer walking towards me. He told me that even though he was here, we had to wait a while longer. Ugh.

Mean Distance Between Failures on the Commuter Rail. Google it if you want to get yourself angry.

And the new trains are only making things *worse*.
