Night did not end well for man police say showed up at a party wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying a loaded gun
Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man they say pulled out a gun during one of several fights outside a Whitfield Street party Sunday night.
Officers had just arrived at 134 Whitfield St around 10:45 p.m. when they spotted a guy 911 callers had said had pulled out a gun:
Upon seeing the officers, the suspect quickly turned and began running in a full sprint while pushing several people out of the way as he fled. The officers gave chase and pursued the suspect for several blocks before finally placing him in custody in the area of 51 West Tremlett Street. The officers then recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun from the suspect’s short’s pocket and discovered that he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Just prior to apprehending the suspect, the officers heard the sound of gunfire close by but could not determine the source. The suspect stated to the officers, “I didn’t pop off, I didn’t pop off” as he tried to assure the officers that he had not discharged his firearm.
Police say Rakeem Lewis, 23, actually had a license for his gun, but you're not suppose to just pull it out like that, so he was arrested on a charge of carrying a firearm in violation of restrictions and disturbing the peace.
Innocent, etc.

Are they giving out,
Are they giving out, presumably, class A licenses in Boston now?
they have for a while
It's just that they come with a restriction of "target and hunting", effectively taking the "C" part out of LTC. The class B license is now defunct thanks to legislation from two years ago, but the restrictions in Boston are pretty much guaranteed unless you're connected.
Any idea if someone moving
Any idea if someone moving into Boston from a freer environ could keep the C part of their Class A?
yes
If you already have the license from another town, they are still the issuing authority and "own" it (along with the restrictions) until it expires. When it's time to renew, you'll get slapped with the restrictions if you're living in Boston.
Is this a first?
Take it away, Ronnie Van Zant
Hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some ol' fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me
