Bennington Street in East Boston
Just north of Orient Heights by the Casket Factory. (Is the casket factory still there?). You are looking southwesterly here from Palermo Street.
Has to be the 40's based on the street car and the car to the right as well as all the high waisted pants people.

My Guess Is Close To All Of Yours, I Believe
It looks to me like a section of street just outside of the Suffolk Downs stop these days. There are still some track stubs there, leading away from the racetrack and up the hill, but they end about where the crest of the hill is.

I got one! I finally got one!
Bow down to my superior knowledge of arcane Boston street scenes, U-Hub peasants, for I am now the KING of all aggregated media. Under my reign, bike lanes are now illegal except for use by The Turkey Liberation Front; all albino squirrels are now (Adorable!) Gods; and every Wednesday morning there will be an official Storrowing competition (with prizes handed out for total roof peelback and number of minutes traffic is delayed.) I appoint Kaz, Stevil, O-FISH-L, scumquistador and Swirly Girl to... well, something. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as they all have to be in the same small room for at least 30 minutes at a stretch and the rest of us get to watch the resulting fun on closed circuit.
Do any of you miserable peons have other suggestions for my administration? I rather doubt I'll implement any of them because, what the hell, I don't have to. I am the new Supreme Being, after all. But I may consider the awarding of heirarchical peerages for those who don't anger me.

Walley St, East Boston
The trolley is at the corner of Waldemar St and Walley St, East Boston near the current Suffolk Downs station. A short stretch of track is still left in the pavement today.

Automobile parked on right side told me that the photo was taken sometime after September 1941, i.e. Front fender but no runningboard marks it as a 1942 model year car; if that's any help. And "sort of" looks like a Type 5 trolley car over the hill, with a clerestory of some type. Anyone for Pearl Harbor Day 1941? It's in the realm of possibility!
