Trumpland, MA: Apologies
By adamg on Sat, 11/12/2016 - 11:43pm
UPDATE: Students exonerated.
One of the Babson dudes who drove around Wellesley College to taunt students there after the election apologized today for being a jerk. No word if his apology is enough to get him back into his frat, which kicked him out.
The Walpole guy who posed in front of a local Mexican restaurant with a large Trump banner, then posted on Facebook that the owners would be paying for the wall, apologized - by way of a full-page ad in the Walpole Times. He says he meant no offense, he was just in a joking kind of mood and besides, it was only that he's a Facebook dunce that he made the post public.

A confederacy of dunces
Welcome to the party of The Donald.
Save me from tomorrow
Lyrics
Good old Walpole
As a metco kid playing basketball at Brookline high, I remember Walpole being a little slice of the south in the bay state.
Thank You Trump
A college kid who is a
A college kid who is a Facebook dunce...I doubt it. Own your jackass behavior.
Apologies are not enough...
Apologies are not enough sometimes. Our scions have consequences and no better place or time to learn that than college. Please consider signing and taking real action.

Apologies not accepted
Both of these apologies are only because they get caught and exposed for their hateful behavior. There is no indication that they renounce their racist beliefs.
Yeah, dudebro just wants to
Yeah, dudebro just wants to get back into his frat (which probably only got rid of him because he became a PR liability).
Yes, Internet petitions are
Yes, Internet petitions are real action.
In the olden days
People wrote letters.
My grandmother used to love telling the story about getting Carney & Lacey back on the air through a letter drive.
Things change, we communicate differently now.
I remember when progressives
I remember when progressives used to protest important things like... war.
War ...
And racial injustice and women dying from illegal abortions and lots of other things that have suddenly remembered as issues.
Not Expecting Reciprocity
One was a prank (Wellesley) and one was a misdemeanor (Walpole). In both, apologies have been offered. For reasonable people, that ends the matter.
Any apprehensions in the Fire Bombing of a Trump Headquarters in North Carolina. That's a criminal act, as are some of the protests/riots on Wed.-Fri. evening (including a shooting).
In considering unusual election 'activities', some perspective is called for.
You know something
About that firebombing? That you know who was responsible?
Perhaps you should share your insights with the proper authorities, since they seem to be taking a very long time to investigate it.
Firebombing was a false flag operation!
If there's one thing I've learned from the alt-right it is that if something happens that could in any way, shape or form make your "team" look bad then it must have been perpetuated by secret government operatives or the other side in an attempt to discredit you.
No Secret Operatives
I'm not implying or stating that there are any 'operatives'. Just that there are offensive behavior on both sides, and that one ought to have some perspective in judging them.
The Wellesley prankers were runoff by the campus police. It hardly merits a yawn. The Walpole was obnoxious, but not more. Neither act is even a misdemeanor. They both apologized.
I'm not aware of any violent acts by Trump supporters.
On the other hand, there have been several violent, criminal acts by Hillary supporters, both before and after the election -- shottings, fire bombings and assaults.
If there's any 'narrative' that describes post-election reaction, it's the denial of reality by the left. That's led to criminal behavior by some, and attempts by others to make mountains out of mole hills when a Trump supporter behaves obnoxiously but not criminally.
"I'm not aware of any violent acts by Trump supporters."
Willfully obtuse or genuinely not smart?
You make the call!
Please--tell us all about the shottings.
I'm sure now that Breitbart is literally in the White House we'll be hearing nothing but fake news from a January on out, but really, please do tell us all about the violent acts perpetrated by Hillary supporters. Do.
i think its safe to say
that violent acts, throughout history, are committed by people of all colors of the political spectrum. i see no reason why that would be any different today.
So, let's walk through this
So let's walk through this:
Ok, so, basically, the only sanction that makes any sense to you is 1)you get told to leave by the campus cops, and 2)you apologize. I'm sorry, the latter is optional, but if you do it, it's all no harm no foul and let bygones be bygones. So if being escorted off campus is all that you're facing...what is to stop you from doing it again?
Those are some awesome blinders you have on.
Shottings? Horrors! Please provide documentation of these crimes, as I've done above. Note: that's over 200 in less than one week. How far back do you have to count to get to 200?
Oh, do tell. Well, for your part, I don't think you're so much denying reality (not to yourself, at least -- you know you're a liar), but you ARE trying to gaslight the rest of us. Stop trying so hard, it's not gonna work.
Who could possibly
think these acts are OK to do? Where is the impulse control? The ability to say "That's not a good idea." Jeezus.
Sorry?
Of course he is sorry, he got caught! I'm not always a fan of social media justice but this was one of those times that I was - these two idiots doing something that's not quite illegal but still registering really high on the asshole meter. Fortunately for the rest of us, now their names show up in google for this nonsense and other people who think that this is totally unacceptable can choose to not date/hire/associate with them.
Every time I see a story like this, all I can think of is how mortified my parents would have been if I would have done something like that. Then again, if I'm even thinking about that, I'm probably unlikely to think it's a good idea to begin with.
Well
At least he apologized instead of blaming those who caught him for catching him.
not quite illegal
we just call that legal where i'm from
You think this was legal?
Let me know where you live. I'll drive on to your property, scream a bunch a bunch of slurs, and threaten your family with my driving. All fun and games!
shut the eff up
please.
get a grip on yourself. it was a term that he used that i quoted.
also swirly, if you want to come to my house, you're more than welcome. i dont think thatll end the way you want it to though.
You first, baby troll.
You first, baby troll.
ahh yes
the puppetmaster defense. im sure you intentionally made yourself look like an insufferable liberal cryhard here for years lashing out at any perceived supporter of ~*the other side*~, just so that you could then whine at the wrong person under the guise of messing with them.
you've really bought into your own myth & legend haven't you lmao.
shut the eff up yourself
She's right and you're wrong, sociopath.
On a scale of 1 thru 10,
This incident and alleged 'hate' crime rates, maybe, a 3. Why is it being way out of proportion?
I'm just mediocre, I guess
I think it was important, but to each his own.
Explain
Proportion? You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Please explain what you think "proportion" means, and then what this incident is being compared to that would make a simple, unexaggerated report of the incident on a web forum "out of proportion".
Why should we listen to you?
How do we know if you have any sense of proportion? Why do you get to decide how victimized the victims are? What gives you superior knowledge and insight? What gives you the right to demand that Adam play by your rules?
the people harassed seem to think it was of note
When people in a truck are yelling threatening things at you in a threatening way, you only know that it will only be yelling and words after they leave and they only left because they were forced to. Who knows what would have happened otherwise. You're obviously a man because to have two men in a truck stalking you and yelling things at women is extremely threatening and meant to terrorize them - hitting or violence is not needed since the implication that they could hurt them is always there. Glad you can minimize that for them.
Hey Adam, are you going to
Hey Adam, are you going to publish this story, or are you only going to allow your readers to remember the original one? Time to eat crow on this one.
