The Lynn Item reports a man who did that found himself robbed of the cash by three guys who then sped off in the Mercedes he thought he was about to buy.
How often is the Lynn station patrolled by the Transit Police? I have a friend who is a Lynn officer and he told me that the transit police have an officer on overtime daily but no one can ever find them and that they have to handle all the calls at the station.
I know people who have bought and sold cars using cash, because there's so much risk of fraud with checks. Even cashier's and bank checks are easily faked.
So what *is* the right way to pay for a car in a private sale?

Sounds like something the police might look into.
I'm guessing he wasn't really
I'm guessing he wasn't really there to buy a car but something else.
Probably 'Something Else' Is Involved in Some Way
Drug dealers have been known to buy cars (and even houses) with cash.
And Mass. should not be in the pot business because ....??
Lynn station

I'm going to bring $90K in cash to a garage in Lynn.
To buy a car.
Suuure.
You never come out the way you went in
In this case, you come out with $90,000 less. I can't make it rhyme. Adam?
Lynn, Lynn
poor guy just can't win.
Can't decide what's the bigger sin.
I wonder ...
Did he really have $90K cash? or is that the "retail" value ;-)
I mean, Craigslist does give you a warning ...
