Man charged with downtown bank robbery; may have held up other banks

Thomas W. Nee, 46, was arrested this week on charges he held up a bank on School Street downtown in May - and may be responsible for additional bank robberies in the area, federal officials allege.

Nee was arrested Monday outside Fenway Park on a probation violation by Boston Police, according to an affidavit by an FBI agent investigating the May 22 robbery of the Randolph Savings Bank branch at 19 School St., around 3:15 p.m. on May 22.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force had circulated photos of the robbery. A Brookline police officer recognized the robber as Nee because he had once arrested him for shoplifting. The task force updated its alert and when the Boston officer arrested Nee, he notified the task force.

According to the affidavit, Nee had made off with $5,010 from the bank after giving a teller a note reading:

THIS IS A ROBBERY GIVE ME ALL 100's 50's 20's "NO DYE PACK."

The agent continued:

After Nee signed a Miranda waiver, he confessed to the May 22, 2017 robbery. Nee also confessed to additional robberies. I have knowledge of evidence corroborating the confession.

In 2013, Nee was charged with stealing Rolex watches from a store at Foxwoods.
