Gotta wonder...
So all of the analysis of this episode has accepted as conventional wisdom that Sam hasn't done anything in the last six months. But is that true? The Weekly Dig articdle that Daley cites, for instance, had numerous quotes from Rob Consalvo (not sure what he accomplished in his first six months on the council), one of Yoon's chief critics, but none from Yoon himself.
I'm not saying that Yoon HAS done a lot--I simply don't know. And i've been critical of him, particularly for supporting the Council pay increase (along with consalvo, Murphy, and his other critics). But I'd like to hear what he has to say about his record thus far.
Sam Yoon
The Globe story that started this anti-Yoon meme seemed to be about how veterans on the Boston City Council were threatened by a 36-year-old who would open his mouth after only "180 days" in an elected position. I didn't think his critics came off very well. I was surprised that the Weekly Dig would recycle the story but only quote one of Yoon's critics (Did he refuse to talk? Was he even asked?). And now the Dig piece is spreading all over the blogosphere. I guess the Dig and the bloggers are showing that they're not biased against conservatives and longtime office holders, but they seem to be going overboard here.
Showing they're not biased?
Do you really think that was the Dig's goal? I guessed that it was more about not reaching Sam or being lazy about contacting him. Either way, though, it's a very unbalanced piece--which, as you said, is spreading around the web.
