Porter Square is crammed for tonight's voyages of the damned
By adamg on Wed, 04/04/2018 - 6:09pm
Michael Doyle is among the scores (hundreds? thousands?) of Fitchburg Line riders forced to deboard prematurely at Porter Square this evening due to either some sort of switch problem between there and Belmont or a train that gave up the ghost, depending on which MBTA alert one chooses to read.
Regardless of the reason, "no outbound train has left Porter in 90 minutes," Saul Blumenthal reports.

Meanwhile, back at North Station ...

Are there any suits from the MBTA or the State House standing with those poor commuters in the photo?
Baker refuses to take the T,
Baker refuses to take the T, though he did point out that new red and orange line cars are coming (but didn't point out that was his predecessor Patrick who ordered them). His pals at the esteemed State Police chauffer him everywhere, so don't expect any real changes for all the cheating and stealing they got caught doing recently.
No punishment. Pollack heads to Fenway
Staties. Nothing. Dept of Revenue, Nothing. MassDOT. Nothing. My colleague tells me that Secretary Stephanie Pollack is heading over to Opening Day at Fenway "incognito style". Despite all of the transportation disasters & backlogs this week, Pollack decides to take a 5 hour break in the middle of the day. Why? No punishment. When she spent 100K on a bathroom and was't fired, Pollack realized she could get away with anything. Just like Revenue + Staties. We are all f'ed until Baker leaves office.
Forget the Border
Trump wants to send troops to the border Charlie Baker is going to have to send the National Guard to MBTA stations to keep passengers from rioting.
What If ...
People fled the stations near the Statehouse when this happens and filled the streets surrounding the garage instead?
Welcome To The Developing World
At least the platforms in India that look like this have really kickass food vendors.

I wish we had Delhi's subway system. It is much nicer, faster and more reliable.

You don't have to travel far to find a better system than the MBTAs. The only time there is long term investment in the subway is during a democratic governor (Dukakis, Patrick). During republican governors, its commuter rail and highways and fare increases. And since we mostly have republicans in this formerly progressive state, along with a conservative legislature, move to Delhi or drive.
Ah no
Been there. The all-too-common subway system urination is terrible
"And they say that there's a Rail-Strike in Paris!....."
Oui! C'est très drôle !
Qui a besoin d'un arrêt de travail lorsque vous avez le MTA

Commuter-rail apology
Public Transit is for Poor People
The wealthy will soon be commuting in comfort and privacy, in self-driving cars.
Public transit is just to take some of the congestion off the roads, for those wealthy people.
Congestion Charges will soon
Congestion Charges will soon make that even more true. Only the wealthy will be able to afford to drive. No different than the aristocracies' taxes on carriages and licensing coachmen to keep the upstart middle class from crowding the roads back in days of old.
The Fitchburg Line is not for poor people
Though perhaps the selectmen in Acton might want to pressure the T to put stops in their area in zone 1A, it ain’t cheap to ride that line.
