Baker to face primary with Trumpist who blames the Holocaust on gays
By adamg on Sat, 04/28/2018 - 11:35pm
Some 27% of the delegates at the state Republican convention in Worcester voted for Scott Lively today, which is more than enough to force a primary with Gov. Baker this September.
Lively, who also ran four years ago, really hates the gays, although he says he doesn't want to see them put to death. Lively came up with his gay Nazi theory after he got tired of being called a Nazi himself.

It'll be good PR for Baker
Baker can be shown in contrast to this awful crazy person.
It's like a proxy for being against Trump.
The debate will be epic.
The debate will be epic.
How great for him
Instead of facing interesting questions about what it means to Baker to be a "moderate Republican" in the age when his party is firmly in the control of Trump and his merry posse of insane bullies, he gets to get asked "do you disavow Lively's nonsense", and he can frown and nod, and case closed!
Baker said he doesn't intend to campaign until August
He'll be fundraising constantly but he won't be taking questions about his record as Governor. He knows reporters will ask him about Lively and he'll say he has a day job.
I hope reporters don't fall for it.
I love it
When the voters have the opportunity to say who they are and what they believe. It brings tremendous moral clarity.
Even in Massachusetts
27% remains the magic number.
Scott Lively was on The Daily Show.

Ernst Rohm
The leader of the Nazi brown shirts and many of the upper echelon of the SA who terrorized the jewish citizens were homosexual. They were thugs who were rounded up and executed by Hitlers straight goon squad called the SS on the night of the long knives in a power struggle in 1934. It is also true that Hitler murdered thousands of gay men and women in concentration camps. Today the finest military in the world has thousands of members who have proven you don't have to be straight to shoot straight and they will defend even this fools right to free speech.
What makes Rohm important for today
Rohm developed an unofficial army. SA membership eventually reached approximatly 2,000,000 (from Wikipedia). The Night of Long Knives derived from envy of Himmler and fear that an independent army might even replace Hitler.
It is the fact that SA was effectively an army outside of government control that makes me leery of claims about right to gun ownership. The sovereign nation people want to pretend that they can be separate nations inside the US. Betsy DeVos' husband created his own private army of mercenaries. The Massachusetts state police act as though they do not answer to the anyone in the Commonwealth.
Rohm is just proof that it is possible for dangerous and private armies to develop. Weimar Germany was vastly different from the US as well. Although the kulturkampf that included power struggles between religious and non-religious also indicates similarity.
Germany however did not have a 200+ year old Constitution (although 4 SCOTUS justices would reshape it to their personal liking). Nor have we experienced anything near the severity of economic feast and famine of Germany. Not is the US quite the militaristic culture that Prussia was.
Betsy DeVos
It is Betsy DeVos's brother, Erik Prince, who is the founder of Blackwater, which I assume is the private army of mercenaries you were referring to. Her husband is the former CEO of Amway, which I suppose could be regarded as a private army of sorts.
Yes, I meant her brother.
Thanks for the correction. I always make that mistake when I do not look up her biography. I guess I see her as a kind of Lucretia Borgia (with less class). Not that there is actual evidence that Lucretia and Cesare, her brother, were sexually involved. Just that given the quantity of hypocritical scandals among people on the far right versus the quantity of scandals among people whose politics are middle or left, I am not surprised by any kind of illegitimate, illegal or just plain gross behavior of powerful people on the right. On the right - at least today, especially among those claiming the highest degrees of moral rectitude - seems most often to be found the most base of human behavior.
At least they could just come out and admit they believe they are of a superior species of human being. Homo Betterthanthous.
That private army has gone through a couple of name changes and is now owned by a larger corporation if I remember correctly.
What. The. F.
Questions for Lively delegates:
Do you in fact believe that Barack Obama is the AntiChrist?
That Putin is our only hope for salvation, and we must follow his example by criminalizing homosexualtiy?
This is what Lively was passing out at the convention.

Pro Life?
Advocating for the execution of gays is pro life?
(SMH)
Lively "pro life" except if you're gay
"Anyone reading this memorandum should make no mistake,” wrote Judge Michael Ponsor of the U.S. District Court in Springfield Massachusetts. “The question before the court is not whether Defendant’s actions in aiding and abetting efforts to demonize, intimidate, and injure LGBTI people in Uganda constitute violations of international law. They do."
The gifts keep coming
for Charlie Baker. This allows him to assert categorically that he does not believe that gays are to blame for the Holocaust, which makes him a Moderate Republican, which is the breed of Political Pet most beloved of Massachusetts voters. They're so cute, and gentle with the kids. Their lives are short, which is sad, but after all one doesn't want a lifelong responsibility.
Nonsense!
The gays were not responsible for the Holocaust.Everyone knows it was George Soros.
I thought it was ...
the hacks in the Massachusetts legislature.
Here's another thing:
Many gays were also exterminated during the Holocaust.
Moral of the story: don't
Moral of the story: don't just blindly vote for the other guy to register a protest vote.
don't just blindly vote for
You're assuming that they blindly voted for him
Moral of the story
If you ever want to see a Great and General Court that is less than 80-90% Democratic Party, get rabies vaccinations for that 30% of your party that foams at the mouth.
27% of Republican delegates
27% of delegates to the Massachusetts Republican Convention are OK with Lively's toxic agenda. If that doesn't tell you all you need to know, I don't know what would.
Searching for a bright side..
Searching for a bright side...
So far, all I've got is that Lively isn't a Holocaust denier.
Anybody got anything else???
Please?
There's no bright side. Our
There's no bright side. Our society is embracing hate and toxicity instead of moving towards reducing it. Not that things were perfect before our current president, but he's certainly made thing worse. Lively's presence in politics and the primary is just another signal for bigots to come out and be proud about how deeply and violently they hate others. He's literally listed as an extremist on the Southern Poverty Law Center website, so...
There's pushback
There's pushback, and people are appalled. As exasperating as it may be to those of us who've known about Lively and his antics for years, the fact that people are at least noticing now may lead to better things when they get done gaping. There are some very toxic, hateful, homophobic people in Massachusetts, and the platitude about how they're all dying off is useless bullshit. This kind of poison does not go away on its own, and this is a stark "which side are you on" question, which should eliminate some of the gray areas where soft bigotry has thrived.
DR.?
I see in some of the articles, he is referred to as a "Dr."?
Anyone know where he got this designation?
Is it honorary?
Is it in theology/divinity?
Thanks
