Alex Kingsbury reports three cars parked on Washington Street near the Peters Park baseball diamond were hit by baseballs this morning, although only one of them will get the Giant Glass jingle stuck in your head.
Ummmm...really? This car was parked where it should have been parked....@ a meter. If no one is supposed to park there than there shouldn't be meters there. If you were was walking by and got hit in the head by a foul ball would you like it if some said to you "well you shouldn't have been walking by on the sidewalk next to prime foul ball territory"? Maybe they should find somewhere else to play ball. It's a heavily used street. People are parking and walking by there all of the time. People who live in that area park there all of the time. The woman who got hit by a foul ball at Fenway sued. Maybe the people that allows games to be played there should get woke before they have a lawsuit on their hands. Case closed!
First off, you ok dude? Everything good? This went from 0-60 real fast.
Second, never said nobody should park there. All I said is that it was prime foul ball territory, refuting the assertion that "no game-hit ball could curve back that far" in the comment above–because it'd be fairly easy for even a Little Leaguer to foul one off back there. That's it. Nothing about not parking there or blaming anyone for parking there.
But quite frankly, we live in a city. Awareness of your surroundings is kind of important, whether it's parking or walking. I'll give you that a freak liner that takes out a pedestrian is a slim possibility here, but that's about all you get. If you make a conscious decision to park near a baseball field–or a construction site, someone's trash barrels on trash day, or hell, even a cart return, you that's your decision. If you're not capable of judging the potential risk, you probably shouldn't be operating a vehicle anyway.
I'll leave the rest of it alone because it's just not worth falling down that rabbit hole.
This whole area is resident parking. These people who come down to play should respect that these are residential parking spots. People are forced to park in these areas as much of the resident parking has dissipated. No one should have to subjected to the cars being beat up. Something should be done!

If what I know about economics is true
This will greatly stimulate the local economy.
giant glass?
gone kid.
“safelite repair safelite replace”
don’t worry though, drinkwater still sitting right behind home plate.
Yeah?
Well, who ya gonna call when ya windshield's busted?
?
Maybe Fenway has some extra protective netting ?
Nope
Even the Green Monster isn't enough to protect cars on Lansdowne Street.
You sure about that?
Washington street is on the dugout side of the ballfield - so no game-hit ball could curve back that far. Maybe kids practicing where they oughtn't??
Foul balls
A decently hit foul ball can go over the narrow sidewalk and hit a car on Washington St. The protection behind home plate doesn't go very far.
What Kevin said
this car looks like it's parked next to the blue wavy sculpture. Prime foul ball territory, case closed.
Are you kidding me?
