Was there a zombie attack on Beacon Hill?

Because our alleged leaders are displaying a notable lack of brains, from Deval Patrick finding a good hack job for Marian Walsh to, well, Marian Walsh accepting a good hack job, as the state sinks deeper into debt, the Outraged Liberal fulminates.

On the one hand I think this
On the one hand I think this is the sort of position that should be filled at this time.
On the other hand Deval promised he would do things differently then others had in the past. By different he meant his supporters, who are different from the supporters of past Governors, should be given the plum jobs instead of opening it up and seeing who steps forward.
Sometimes I think Deval Patrick does not have a clue that his actions when it comes to tossing money around makes him look like the bankers and auto makers who took their private jets to DC to beg for money.
Getting our Mass in Gear
Stimulus dollars. Stimulus response.
We won't get any unless we can show there is sufficient bureaucratic infrastructure to administer the funds.
Massachusetts ain't too great with the systematic infrastructure, having years of republican governors ignoring both maintenance of physical stuff and bureaucratic systems. We are in serious danger of losing out on the federal money unless there are competent people in charge of actual organizations to ride herd on the money.
Education and healthcare infrastructure are high on the Obama agenda.
$175K to convince the feds we need millions of dollars of help, or nothing. Will that make people happy? Or are typical herald-lovin' MA denizens too caught up in their own little Mass puddle to understand that we are up shit creek ... so much so that they don't even want to buy a paddle?
We've Come A Long Way, I Guess...
Now the blatant example of the "Old Boys Club" features a black Governor handing a cushy job to a woman. I suppose that's progress, of a sort.
The question is did
The question is did progressive have a problem with the old boys club because it was white men helping along their friends and children of their friends or was it that they had a problem with the fact that people were handing jobs to their political friends and children of politically connected friends.
Was it a matter of ethnic and gender diversity or a matter of merit and looking for a non political way to handle it?
Im sure the anti old white boys network will have several different answers to the question and it will be interesting to see how things play out over the next decade now that their is more ethnic and gender diversity in the hack pool.
I called the Gov's office...
No Common Leader, wasn't that one of the slogans?
He's in Jamaica, with a full police detail. Which we're
paying for.
I asked the person who picked up the phone about Marion
Walsh's appointment, while we're laying off cops, firefighters,
and teachers.
Their response? "Sir, that's an issue that you'll have to
take up with MHEFA, the hiring agency."
I think this guy's on a one-man crusade to keep the Boston
Herald in business.
Sometimes our state is just
Sometimes our state is just so... stupid (swirlygrrl is jumping up and down in joy because I said that.)
We do not have a governors mansion, house, condo or even apartment which in all honestly discriminates against those would be governors from the Cape and the Western part of the state and yet we have State Troopers following the Governor around at all times? Even to Jaimaca? I highly doubt anyone is going to target him down there, they would not even know who he was for gods sake.
NECN: Walsh's appointment draws criticism
