Let a thousand flowers bloom - and then die, because florists aren't allowed to deliver them

Florists are not "essential" businesses allowed to stay open to the public under the current state of emergency. But what about floral delivery, with orders taken online or by phone? David Levine of Central Square Florist in Cambridge reports that, in the consideration of the Cambridge city solicitor, the answer is no, because flower deliveries aren't "essential," either.

How is edible arrangements
How is edible arrangements delivering those boxes of fruits and veggies I saw being mentioned all over the place?
Edible deliveries
Edible Arrangements spent the better part of 20 years growing a franchise network and a fleet of refrigerated delivery vehicles at the same time. Long before UberEats and DoorDash, delivery was part of the Edible equation. Today, that fleet can domestically reach some 75% of the U.S. population. The company pivoted to whole fruit boxes and now whole fruits and veggies to meet increasing demand in recent weeks for fresh produce with people sheltering in place.
Flowers from grocery stores
Is it OK to have flowers delivered from grocery stores (like Star Market) and other food providers (like Russo's)?
How about don't, though?
Even if it's legal, flowers sound pretty non-essential, so you'd be putting more people at risk by having them delivered.
Then The Allowance For 'E-Commerce' Is Meaningless
This is a question that several small business owners I know have been struggling to try to interpret. The State has, from the beginning, stated the e-commerce was an allowable activity. But how is that even possible if what you are selling has to be delivered/shipped/mailed?
I guess a few 'e- commerce' businesses might be selling some intangible service or something, but isn't the most of it physical products?
But of course, Amazon can continue to do exactly that to their shareholders' hearts delight.
I reluctantly agree that
I reluctantly agree that florists are not essential, but I wish it were not so. Since this all began, I've sent flowers to a handful of friends who are stuck inside, and my cousin send me an herb wreath that smells wonderful and has made being inside a touch more bearable. These are all small things, but they made life a little more hopeful.
Flowerless funerals
Another tough blow to families who lose a loved one in this time, for any cause of death and not just COVID-19. Now, in addition to all of the other restrictions (only ten people, no religious services, some cemeteries not allowing people to get out of their cars, etc.) there won't be even a single bouquet or spray to brighten the room a bit.
One florist up in Magnolia closed and put ..
... all her flowers out on the sidewalk in buckets of water so passersby could make their own bouquets for free.
