It's not to be: No Shakespeare on the Common this year
By Ron Newman on Fri, 06/12/2020 - 8:08pm
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company does not want its audience to emulate Demitrius, who told Helena, "I am sick when I do look on thee." So there will be no midsummer night's Tempest on the Common this year.

Just as well
Star crossed lovers aren’t as entertaining if they’re 6 feet apart.
Zoom Tempest?
Nothing that doth die but that doth suffer a sea-change into something rich and strange.
Shakespeare's Julius Caesar
Would be appropriate this year.
"Cry 'Havoc!,' and let slip the dogs of war."

How about Shakespeare* with the Turkey Liberation Front?
Marcatus: Hold! Look thine ahead...a series of wondrous birds, full of vigor...
Carnabal: Sire, do you see the berets upon heir heads?
Marcatus: 'Tis no worry...Say, birds...what brings you yonder to this fair shire?
Apato: Away with you, slothful and turgid human...you are occupying our ancestral lands! We are here to reclaim what is rightfully ours!
Marcatus: Oh ho! A haughty bunch of birds, yes! How shall you govern? You are a mere gaggle of uncouth fowl.
Nereid: We have our ways! You shall bow to us and give us tribute in the form of grain and wheat. You will be our permanent vassals, yielding to the yoke of turkey supremacy!
Marcatus: There shall be no such thing as long as I draw breath...Carnabal - fetch me my blunderbuss. It's time to make these fowl a pleasant and satisfying meal.
(after ten minutes of shooting and turkey cackling...)
Marcatus: Go insult some other set of insipid morons, you feathered jackanapes!
Carnabal: Sire! What happened?
Marcatus: Tis not obvious, you simping fool? The vile birds have fled, cackling in scorn!
Carnabal: You also limp to here...what happened?
Marcatus: One of them decided to bite me in the cheeks that converse in a rude manner.
*Please note that this is not real Shakespeare, and I apologize if it's a really bad attempt at it.

Wasn’t it already cancelled?
I thought Walsh cancelled all summer events in Boston some time ago?
At least they are going to hold it next year instead of making it another virtual event on zoom.
Smart move
Mayor- Drebin I don't want any more trouble like you had last year.
Lieutenant Drebin- Yeah when I see five weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park I shoot the bastards.
Mayor-That was Shakespeare in the parks production of Julius Ceasar you killed five actors.
