Former City Councilor Rob Consalvo wins seat in House of Representatives
Former City Councilor Rob Consalvo has about 54% of the Democratic primary vote in the race for the 14th Suffolk (Hyde Park, Roslindale, West Roxbury) compared to 33% for Gretchen Van Ness and 14% for Duckens Petit-Maitre.
With no Republican in the race for November, the results mean Consalvo will replace incumbent Angelo Scaccia, the longest serving member of the House, who is retiring this year.
In the race to replace Dan Cullinane in the 12th Suffolk (Dorchester, Mattapan, Milton), former teacher and public defender Brandy Fluker Oakley is winning over Jovan Lacet and Stephanie Everett.
In other races, US Rep. Stephen Lynch retained his seat by a wide margin, as did Suffolk County Register of Probate Felix Arroyo. State Sen. Nick Collins (1st Suffolk) survived a primary challenge, as did State Rep. Dan Ryan in the 2nd Suffolk (Chelsea and Charlestown).
In the US Senate race, Ed Markey is winning Boston by a roughly 60-40 margin.

Nope
Pig to the trough.
mission accomplished with his no-show, no accountability job at BPS, time to get a new gig for Rob the Con.
Mary Walsh and Angelo Scaccia
Mary Walsh and Angelo Scaccia and Rob worked together for this.
Why didn't Roslindale's Michele Wu or Hyde Park's
Pressley and Arroyo family pull out more voters for change?
The more things change . . .
The more things change . . .
So the "if it was a two person race"
argument was way off target.
The real winner
We can't vote for Tom Menino any more, so we voted for his #1 lieutenant.
I actually voted for Gretchen Van Horn, whose progressive vision seemed appropriate for State House legislation. But Rob Consalvo really impressed me with his personal and active interest in the governmental affairs of southwest Boston, and I'll be happy to vote for him in November.
Van Horn, like Keith the NBA power forward.
Gretchen Van Ness. Van Ness like the street.
oops
I had trouble remembering her last name all through the campaign...and I voted for her! At least I remembered Gretchen. I had a teacher earlier in life named Mr. Van Horn...that's the only reason I can think of for misremembering. My apologies.
We need more Mark's on UHub.
No apologies necessary!
