Man charged with scissors stab attack in Copley Square

Boston Police report arresting a local man on charges he used a pair of scissors to stab another man in the forearm in an attack that ended when the victim managed to shut the door of his van, at Boylston and Dartmouth streets around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say Cirilo Aldana-Peraedes, 44, who has listed both St. Francis House and the Pine Street Inn as residences in the past, "had been antagonizing the victim as well as other individuals in the area throughout the day." Around 9 p.m., police say:

The victim stated when he asked the suspect to leave him alone, the suspect responded by taking out a pair of scissors and in a threatening manner, the suspect held the scissors above his head in a closed grip. The suspect then began stabbing the passenger’s side window of the victim’s van multiple times, causing scratches to the glass window. As the victim attempted to close the door to the van, the suspect stabbed him on the left forearm causing a severe laceration. The victim was eventually able to close the door, preventing additional harm.

Aldana-Peraedes then ran down Boylston towards the Pru, where he was stopped and detained by officers responding to a radio call about the stabbing. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police say. In March, 2018, he was charged with assault and battery on a police officer causing injury in Roxbury.
