Just in time for that annual northward trek for some potatoes: Maine re-opens state fully to Massachusetts residents
By adamg on Wed, 09/23/2020 - 10:14pm
NECN reports Maine has lifted its Covid-19 restrictions on Massachusetts residents, which mean you can now drive all the way up to Arookstook County and stay overnight in a quaint B&B overlooking the potato fields without having to quarantine for two weeks or submit proof of a negative Covid-19 test.

Your turn, Massachusetts
How about lifting the restrictions on travel from Rhode Island?
That would be nice. I miss
That would be nice. I miss Providence.
Tell Gov Raydumbo
She can throw some cops at the virus. They can harass people until they find some and breathe it! I'm sure that will work!
How about they cut down their daily numbers?
RI's R0 is nearly 1.2. They've got to get that down a bit and flatten out their infections.
Buckle down, little Rhodie!
Foliage season?
A cynic might wonder if the timing of this is an attempt to garner some of the tail end of the tourist season.
Now that I can travel there, I have no desire to visit
Maine.
Hey Vermont
How about the same? Ski season is coming up and I need to decide which pass to get.
The current VT system which is based on your origin county makes sense but let's be real, no-one is checking your papers / origin. I know so many people from Boston who went to Maine over the summer.
VT's definition of quarantine is much stricter than Maine's was - per the regs you are not even supposed to go to grocery stores or get take out. Maine was basically what we do anyways - masks up when in public, take-out only, etc...
Massachusetts residents
Massachusetts residents should stay out of Maine!!
Read the latest on the Lobster House in Ogunquit 3 workers there have covid19 .
If you ate a lobster there in September , you and the lobster that you ate should have been tested first.
Maine was never closed
I am not aware that there was any enforcement of this alleged travel ban in the first place. I am personally aware that several motels on the south coast told customers "don't worry about it". The need for a test was not enforced and the quarantine was not enforced.
Is this just a pre-winter push
to get new england back into the "red" part of the COVID map?
Went to Maine in early August
I got my test, as did my family members.
Then we got to see exactly how stupid their restrictions were when we noted how little attention the locals paid to things like markings on the floor, rules for not crowding a bar without wearing masks, etc. The whole thing was a joke.
I wasn't surprised in the least when their home-grown idiots caused a fatal outbreak of COVID following a fatal outbreak of utter stupidity.
I suspect their *concern* had more to do with us having a GOP governor - I couldn't find any valid public health reason for it. That, and some belief in evil flatlanders being dirty while Mainers were pure as the driven snow blah blah blah evil outside virus blah.
In any case, the Massachusetts list of "Low Risk" states is here: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-travel-order#lower-risk-states-
Potato season, eh?
