Board backs beefing up Brighton bank building for housing
By adamg on Tue, 10/27/2020 - 3:13pm
The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved plans to add four stories to a former bank building between two other still open banks on Market Street in Brighton Center to add 23 housing units and new retail space.
Developer Henry Chew's plans for the dormant building between Rockland Trust and Santander Bank would also include 23 parking spaces. The BPDA board approved the roughly $4.5-million proposal in August.

Hopefully this plus the
Hopefully this plus the buildings going up on Washington in front of Rogers Park and on Market where the Brighton Beer Garden used to be means more foot traffic into Brighton Center to support the business district there. Even better if we can stop putting banks in valuable business district storefronts---but that would require some actual policy action.
