on a whim recently, and it's... odd. Weird melty texture that works better as a shell for their Lindor truffles than standalone.
That odd softness reminds me of the Ice Cube, a small flattened cube of chocolate wrapped in gold foil that sold for a few pennies in front of every retail cash register when I was a kid. Its first ingredient is partially-hydrogenated coconut oil (call it coconut margarine), which greatly lowers its melt point in the mouth. That was dizzying to a five-year-old accustomed to waxy Hershey and Nestle Crunch bars. It also includes hazelnut paste, a novel flavor combination in the years before Nutella ubiquity in the States. (I think Nutella is gross, but still like a hazelnut-studded milk chocolate bar: the Chocolove brand is a value and easy to find.)
Ice Cubes: another confection I tried as an adult that didn't live up to childhood memories, again bringing up the question: did it change, or did my tastes? The answer is usually both.
I sometimes buy Lindt chocolate bars if the mood strikes me - the best ones for taste are at 85-90% cacao and very little sugar. (I once tried to eat a 99% cacao bar...it was like eating a bar of dirt.)
The best dark chocolate bars, however, are from Trader Joe's. I used to buy them by the half dozen for $1.49 a package, but even now at $1.79, it blows Lindt out of the water. Consistent smooth flavor at 85% cacao.
Also, citations needed. Made fun of hurt firefighers, dear? Really? Where, exactly, did I do that? You need to lay off the booze, hun. You are hallucinating on top of your usual paranoid victim complex raging and over the top aggro yammering.
Man, nothing worse than calling someone a mild insult based on their chosen profession. When will people finally stand up for the rights of the police to be able to stand around outside of a chocolate shop without having someone express a slight criticism?
But when there is a trench in the street and I'm going by in my car and a backhoe is moving towards me, I want the officer to look up from Facebook and direct the situation.
When I was there they were huddled together, talking. I assumed they were deciding the evening’s plan, but thought the Lindt store was an odd meeting place! Many more police were visible on Newbury Street, as well. Let’s hope it’s a safe and serene night for all.

Lindt chocolate? Pretty
Lindt chocolate? Pretty mainstream now. Hell, you can even buy mini packs of Lindt at Dollar Tree.
