Not the biggest of surprises, but St. Patrick's Day parade canceled again

The South Boston Allied War Veterans Council announced today it's called off the annual South Boston parade due to Covid-19.
Due to ongoing state restrictions limiting outdoor public events to 25 people, the 2021 South Boston St. Patrick's Day / Evacuation Day Parade has been canceled. We look forward to finally seeing you all again in 2022.
The 2020 parade was the first large event that Mayor Walsh ordered shut last year as the coronavirus pandemic took hold in Massachusetts.

Dot Day is next
Oh well.
Well, at least...
...we didn't have "Dottoberfest" this past fall. Last year (its first time) it was run out of a parking lot area near South Bay that borders my apartment, and it was rather obtrusive to say the least. I appreciate the spirit of the event, but I was glad not to have it next to me.

I've lived in Dorchester for over 20 years now, and I've been at my current apartment for about 7 years. I'm off of Boston St and have never had an issue with the Polish Fest each year, and I've always taken the drunken world of St. Patrick's Day in stride, lol. I love the city. But the free (and not always very good) "Dottoberfest" band concerts outside my window last fall? Could have done without that. Especially as I was going through a rather daunting rough patch healthwise at the time, to be honest. But your mileage may vary. Maybe you don't live quite as close to there. Thanks anyways. As I said, I appreciated the spirit of the event - just not its amplitude lol.
The least they could do, still, is clean off the "Dottoberfest" sidewalk stencils that are still there around the area over a year later. Life in the city, indeed, lol. ;-)

Nothing comes up in Google for this word. Who sponsored these events and where were they? Did they have any other name?

I think they're talking about events held in a small parking lot along the edge of South Bay Center, between the apartment buildings/restaurants and Boston Street.

Try "Dotoberfest" (without the double t I previously posted).

Hope It Gets Nixed
I want to be able to go to actual Ireland this fall.
If Fake Ireland let's their parade go on, it will mean a greater spread and more death. It will most likely not happen.
That being said, if you can go in quiet times, The Hibernian in Scituate Harbor is a decent restaurant trying to get on its feet.

I'm giving up any hope for anything happening in 2021, as I think it will save me time in the weeks and months to come, as it kind of did in 2020

A better plan would be to hold the parade but limit attendance to 25 people, chosen by lottery among those interested.
That's a possibility, but one must remember that
wearing masks that cover both the mouth and the nose, as well as keeping six feet or more apart is still absolutely necessary.
