Heron with catfish

Mary Ellen was down by the Charles River at Millennium Park this morning and watched a great blue heron enjoy a fresh catfish meal. It took the bird a half hour to subdue and finally consume the entire large fish, she reports.

Grateful that evolution didn't make the herons larger.

Look up Quetzalcoatlus if you're prepared to never think of wading birds as cute again.

Is the best sushi!
Mary Ellen’s photos are delightful.

she's my hero

I don't even like birds*, but I love Mary Ellen's photos.

*buncha fuckin terrorists

Went under the sea for the film festival, and had to wear an apparatus? Why didn't the catfish director also have to wear that? He's not a saltwater fish.

do exist. But you're essentially right: BoJack Horseman does take some liberties with zoology. Don't get me started on the dubious science in SpongeBob SquarePants. To quote one great scholar on the subject, "Is our children learning?"

"How did they start a fire underwater?"

'I can't believe I ate the whole thing'

Are we?

Haven't had any moose or bear, yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

Wasn't there a green line moose in the 90's?

Almost too good

I can’t watch the video.

Those spines can hurt! Also, they make some really strange clicking noises. My son Caught one last summer.
