Baker: Free booster shots for everybody

WBUR reports Gov. Baker said today that everybody eligible for Covid-19 shots can now get a free booster shot six months after they've gotten their initial shots (or sooner if they got Johnson & Johnson shots).

The move comes a day after the state reported its highest one-day Covid-19 rate in months and a day before federal health officials were to consider freeing up everybody across the country for boosters.

I took my two shots even though I’m a healthy 30 yo with no underlying conditions.

Not worth feeling like crap for a day.

Fully vaccinated less than a year ago, healthy, and fairly young? You probably wouldn't benefit all that much from a booster yet.

(EDIT: Your immunity *will* wane over time. I'm just not sure that I fully trust the studies on how fast that happens. The ones I've seen have some serious analysis issues.)

I had my two shots in April. The first shot I had a sore arm for two days, and the second shot I had a temperature for about six to eight hours and felt fatigued the next day.

I thought with those two shots, I would dodge COVID as long as I was careful. But no such luck...

I was admitted to the hospital for an infection, but as an added bonus, I ended up getting COVID. I spent two weeks in the hospital (both for the treatment of my original infection AND quarantine for COVID).

I only lost my taste of smell and I got a few fevers, but boy, the coughing was unreal. On top of that, I got an acute kidney injury, high blood pressure, atrial flutter, and "mild" pneumonia.

As of today, the pneumonia is gone, and the AKI, HBP and atrial flutter are under control thanks to medication. I do not regret getting vaccinated, because if I didn't, I would have been a lot worse. I'm looking forward to getting my booster shot.

Heh, now I have Will Ferrell banging away on his cowbell...

For all intents and purposes, I have fully recovered. There were times it wasn't easy, but my determination to get better was enough to get me discharged from the hospital and then get well at home.

I can't count the number of people I know who have taken their kids in for their vaccines simply to be able to have a safer family thanksgiving.

Even if you don't get #2 in or the two weeks after, #1 plus 2 weeks gets the youngsters most of the way there.

If you’re vaxxed and maybe even boosted, you’re probably good. If you’re not, good luck to you and yours. And fingers crossed that the hospitals don’t get overrun and schools don’t get shut down, because thoughts and prayers are totally a strategy in Baker’s book.

We are in for a tough winter of outbreaks, school closures, hospital’s delaying care. Completely man made cause the eugenics crowd wants to party at the bar.
