Man in stolen SUV runs red light in Brighton, kills another driver, tries to run away while holding his dog, State Police say
State Police report a Randolph man speeding down Soldiers Field Road slalomed onto Leo Birmingham Parkway in Brighton, where he ran a red light at Western Avenue and slammed into a car, killing its driver.
According to State Police:
Preliminary investigation by Troopers indicates that a 19-year-old Randolph man, ANDERSON A. NOVA, was driving a rented 2022 Buick Enclave sport utility vehicle negligently and at an excessive rate of speed on Soldiers Field Road in Brighton, and then continued onto Birmingham Parkway. NOVA at one point sped by an MSP cruiser going in the opposite direction on Soldiers Field Road. The Troopers in that cruiser reversed their direction but lost sight of the fleeing vehicle and did not engage in a pursuit.
A short time later, still continuing in the same direction in which they had observed the suspect vehicle traveling at a high speed, the Troopers observed smoke rising from the intersection of Birmingham Parkway and Western Avenue. Upon reaching the intersection, the Troopers observed that the Buick Enclave had broadsided a Honda Civic being operated by Dina L. Donahue, 53, of Topsham, Maine. The Troopers observed NOVA running away from the scene of the crash while carrying his dog and apprehended him.
The investigation suggests that Ms. Donahue, the sole occupant of her vehicle, was driving on Western Avenue and had a green light as she proceeded into the intersection with Birmingham Parkway. At that point, the investigation indicates, NOVA drove through a red light at a high rate of speed and struck the driver’s side door of Ms. Donahue's Civic.
State Police say the SUV was stolen, that Nova's license had earlier been suspended and that troopers found stolen checks and credit cars in the SUV. He was taken to a local hospital - a different one than the one Donahue was brought to - and was charged with motor-vehicle homicide, negligent operation, operating after suspension, speeding, leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury or death, receiving stolen property and using a motor vehicle without authority.
Innocent, etc.

teen sped through the red light. a woman in her 50s has died. teen arrested at hospital.
Amazing
Who would have thought that the region's total indifference to red light laws and the local police's complete not-giving-a-shit about terrible drivers would lead to this completely predictable outcome
Is he going to be cited?
Is he going to be cited?
Is he going to be jailed?
That should be the question. But given current enforcement trends, I understand your question. Arrested is a good start.
He’ll get a slap on the wrist
He’ll get a slap on the wrist and won’t even have his license terminated because cars are valued over people in this messed up country.
Jailed? Is Mass Bail Fund
Jailed? Is Mass Bail Fund already closed for Christmas?
Hey trollboy?
Your sheet is showing.
True to fascism
The train runs on time.
Arrested - that's encouraging
As opposed to two horrific crashes in TX where cyclists got crushed and the drivers weren't even cited on the scene. One incident took weeks for a citation, a case where a 16 yo had coal-rolled one group and mowed down another while rolling them.
I don’t believe this story.
Everyone knows only cyclists run red lights.
Its worse than ever
The roads are taken over by dangerous, callous drivers. They couldn't care less about any type of traffic enforcement, probably because there is NONE.
I never expected that
I never expected that deathtrap of an intersection to kill someone.
My condolences to the woman's family.
That whole sequence of lights blows
Some of the worst timing I've ever seen. I used them all my years living at North Beacon and Market to get to Soldiers Field Rd. Wasn't uncommon to spend more than four minutes to travel, what, 1,000 yards?
Yes
... and?
I mean
Also my condolences, but someone else already said it for me.
No one can say your condolences for you
Sorrow for the woman who was killed and condolences to her family and loved ones.
Are you really using this as a reason
to complain that you weren't allowed to drive fast enough??? Maybe this should be a time to consider that maybe there are worse outcomes than having to spend 4 extra minutes sitting in a climate-controlled cushioned seat with a built-in entertainment system.
There's speeds between 0 and whatever this jerk was doing
I'd like to travel at one of them.
So that's a "yes."
So that's a "yes."
Not a reason to complain, but
Not a reason to complain, but an opportunity to complain. There's a difference.
