Citizen complaint of the day: The giant snow penis on Beacon Street
By adamg on Fri, 01/07/2022 - 4:40pm
Update: The frat brothers have taken their giant snow penis down.
A concerned citizen recovers with the help of some smelling salts and files a 311 complaint about the giant male genitals the brothers of MIT's Theta Tau fraternity erected outside their frat house at 526 Beacon St., near Charlesgate, today.
Pics or it didn't happen? But of course! While the horrified citizen was too disgusted to actually take a photo, Shamus Moynihan was able to hold his phone steady long enough to capture the snowy shaft for posterity, as seen above.

I get it...
The 311 OP was concerned about the ruptured scrotum...
I'm wondering ...
Has the 311 OP ever even seen the real thing live?
This could simply be a crudely rendered homage to the nearby Salt and Pepper Shaker Bridge + sightseeing bump outs given the level of sculpting accumen.
I was trying to remember the
I was trying to remember the name of whatever long-ago hotel in the Back Bay that had famous columns. Building burned and/or was demolished. A few columns were taken for architectural salvage, one or two ended up in parks somewhere. Thinking this could be an homage of some sort.
In any case, the image could use some work. Definitely an argument in favor of making sure STEM becomes STEAM.
That's not a body part.
That's Jeff Bezos's space ship. And, since this is a MIT frat, it likely has its own rocket engine.
Yeah…
They even made the exhaust plumes.
mhmmm
I dunno.. it could be a penis.
tbh it looks like a lighthouse on 2 rocks.
Or a Christmas Candle with 2 pieces of holy around it.
I say
get a grip! Take ahold of the situation until you get it calmed down!
I guess
That snow sculpture just rubs some people the wrong way
Won't someone...

If anyone's penis
is THAT color, they have a medical problem.
Although you ain’t wrong about tech culture
Although you ain’t wrong about misogyny in tech culture, there is a difference between, on the one hand, cult-like phallus worship and, on the other, toxic masculinity and mistreatment of women. The two aren’t the same thing.
Also, “lookit meeee… for the first time in my life my parents aren’t supervising me!”
Sometimes they are ….
… the same thing. Probably both here.

Dear 311
The state built a giant penis bridge sculpture

I see that 111 Huntington is called
the R2-D2 building by some, but I lived not far away during its construction, and my ex- and I always referred to it as the Peepee Tower.
oh that one
the one that looks like a bottle of lube
Coffee pot
I always think of it as a giant percolator coffee pot.
Language, please!
I have learned right here on uhub from experts in the sociology of sex and sex-positive education (hi you know who you are and I’ve always admired you) that clinical terms are right out, and that one should always refer to genitalia using the name of a dog breed. As in, “that looks like a giant Weimaraner”.
"Whoa, that's a huge Cocker
"Whoa, that's a huge Cocker Spaniel!"
You think that's something?
Lincoln Nebraska is home to the Penis of the Plains, a 400 foot tall domed tower with a statue of a sower at the very tip of the dome symbolically spreading seed all across the Cornhusker State (and probably well into Iowa and Kansas, owing its proximity to each neighbor, a mere 45 and 55 and miles to the east and south respectively). Having relatives from Lincoln, Nebraska, I've had the opportunity to visit on multiple occasions, and its phallusity notwithstanding, I've found it to be a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture.
Probably not one of the Theta
Probably not one of the Theta Tau bros. I'm thinking someone used a 3D printer.
Could be better

Snow dick - sculpture with a low degree of difficulty.
In my day, my housemates and I headed to the esplanade to create a snow debauchery, with snow men, snow women, snow persons of undetermined pronouns, etc. frolicking in sight of traffic and we never got any recognition for our work!
Harruuumph!
We definitely got 12”

When I was a kid growing up
in a Small Nowhere Masshole town, my siblings and I built something like this out of snow in the side yard, clearly visible from the street. It was about eight feet tall and, ahem, girthier. Plus we sprayed it multiple colors using diluted food dyes.
Our parents thought it was hilarious, and the neighbors did not complain. We did all kinds of large-scale, parti-colored snow sculptures in those days, but that’s the one we still talk about.
Quick, get the snow blower

I don't see what the problem
I don't see what the problem with this lighthouse on a little rocky island is?
It's an elective project
I had no idea dildo design was an elective at MIT though. Unfortunately I believe this lumpy design is already available at your local porn emporium.
