Man already serving 14-year term for cyberstalking and terrorizing people in Colorado admits he cyberstalked and terrorized a Boston College student

Eric Bolduan, 47, of Rochester, MN, yesterday pleaded guilty to transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure another person for threatening e-mails he sent to a Boston College student he apparently found at random on social media.

Bolduan is already locked up in a federal prison in Colorado, with a scheduled release date in 2029, for cyberstalking and threatening three people in that state. US District Court Judge Rya Zobel sentenced him to a concurrent sentence of two years in the BC case, which means he will still get out in 2029.

According to the US Attorney's office in Boston, in May, 2016, Bolduan, also a convicted sex offender for a failed sexual assault in 1993:

[D]ownloaded images of a female student attending Boston College from her social media pages and from other publicly available sites. Bolduan then located a pornographic image of a different female with a similar appearance and posted the images of the victim alongside the pornographic image to various pornographic websites in order to make it appear that the victim was involved in pornography.

Bolduan then used the images to threaten the woman - including by sending copies to various BC addresses. In one message, he wrote:

I noticed the attached photo of you online and wanted to follow up with you. I’m going to find you this summer. Once I’ve got you I will have my way with your body for several days, until I finally tire of you. You will experience things that will give you nightmares for the rest of your life. I want to look into your eyes as you experience pain at levels you never imagined were possible. By the time I’m done with you your body will be shattered and broken. I promise that you’ll never be the same again.

All this was came several months after he sent threatening messages online to three people in Colorado. Details of what he sent them are in sealed documents, but the indictment against him for the Colorado messages said they involved "a course of conduct that caused substantial distress" to the three victims, two of whom he also sent messages with threats to physically harm them.

Bolduan was arrested in the Colorado case in October, 2017. He pleaded guilty in 2018 and was sentenced on Jan. 29, 2019.

Federal agents searching his house in June, 2017 found evidence of his online attacks against the BC student as well as evidence in the Colorado case, but he was not indicted here for the BC case until April, 2021.
