Data breach involving everybody working in the state cannabis industry tied to investigation into Russian oligarch
By adamg on Wed, 03/22/2023 - 10:47am
And the Belmont blogger whom the state Cannabis Control Commission inadvertently e-mailed personal information on 17,000 Massachusetts cannabis workers - and former workers - is now in hiding. GBH reports on the case, which may stem from a commission investigation into the way a sanctioned Russian oligarch may have been funding one particular company that operates in Massachusetts.

Weed paranoia is real.
Weed paranoia is real.
It's true. You wouldn't hear
It's true. You wouldn't hear this story about 17,000 liquor store workers because they're not under the same level of scrutiny from the government. But people are paranoid about weed, so here we are.
Russians
need to maybe spend more money on not being a dump.
Agreed
And I’d like to add maybe state workers can think for a second before hitting send and not send lots of personal information to random people.
Sure
They sent the document in response to an open records request by a blogger. It's not as if they were just randomly emailing documents to unknown addresses.
Obviously they should have checked the data throughly before sending and redacted personal data. Generally the problem is agencies just rejecting all requests or providing comically little information which is also wrong.
But without government
Who's going to email personal data about working stiffs to our enemies?
I read this as
“Working spliffs”
Gummies
I am sure they were just looking for the gummies recipe. SMDH
You don't "hide" in a safe
You don't "hide" in a safe house you are sequestered there by some branch of law enforcement. They are synonyms so I guess hide would be a valid definition but "Safe House" usually means government involvement.
The CCC is an absolute joke
The CCC is an absolute joke who haven't done a single good thing since being formed, fire them all and get people who actually care about cannabis run things, these people can go back to being lobbyists and lawyers and whatever other scams they were into.
