A.P. Blake captured the carnage (pickupage?) on Rte. 1 at the Lynnfield Tunnel around 11:30 p.m. yesterday.
The guy passed my wife and I in Saugus moments before crashing and was easily doing over 100, without a doubt. It was terrifying how quickly he went by. Crash sent chunks of concrete all over the road.

It'd be a tough defense
Reckless driving is illegal. 2 year incarceration and a fine. You've got witnesses and probably a black box that will show the speed at the time of the crash. Going 10 miles above the posted speed is one thing, but hitting triple digits is another thing.
Of course, if the driver pleas out on the case, he'll probably get probation, assuming that this is the first offense.

I encountered a guy like that on the Mass Pike once
