Lebanese restaurant in West Roxbury shifts to catering only

Basem Metri, who owns Fairouz, 5268 Washington St. in West Roxbury, announced this week he's closing the restaurant to focus entirely on catering.

Metri, who took over the restaurant from his father Fadi, who opened the restaurant in 2014, thanked his patrons:

My father's vision when he opened this restaurant was to share the exquisite flavors of our home country with you, beloved residents of West Roxbury and the neighboring areas. Today, I'm proud to say that he achieved this goal.

As we move forward, I've made the decision to steer Fairouz in a new direction, focusing all of our resources on catering for your upcoming events. I've found immense success in this aspect of our business and developed a deep appreciation for it. We've had the privilege of serving movie sets, Boston's professional sports teams, numerous engagements and weddings, daily corporate lunches and dinners, and so much more. I truly consider our co-workers and customers as part of our extended family.

Metri also thanked chef Soha Abdelnour and his staff.

People in the area with a hankering for Lebanese food still have Al Wadi on VFW Parkway.

And I almost had a heart attack.

Al Wadi is as close to my family's recipes as I have yet to find in Boston.

Fairouz is no longer functioning as a restaurant. We had them cater a family party and everything was delicious. Good luck to them.
