Former member of notorious Columbia Point Dawgs gang convicted of being a felon in possession of a gun, again

A one-time member of the Columbia Point Dawgs gang, who spent several years in federal prison for crack dealing and being a felon in possession of a gun faces more prison time after a federal jury convicted him of being a felon in possession of a gun again, the US Attorney's office reports.

Tevin Abercrombie, 29, of Roxbury, faces up to ten years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for April 24, the US Attorney's office says.

While still on probation for his Columbia Point Dawgs-related conviction, Abercrombie and another man were arrested on April 16, 2020 after what police say was a failed attempt to gun down two other men on Station Street on Mission Hill. Abercrombie was not charged with the shooting, but for the loaded gun police say they found under his seat in the car the other man was driving down Halleck Street not long after the shooting.

Abercrombie had been released from federal prison on May 31, 2019, following completion of a sentence that stemmed from his 2015 arrest during a massive series of raids by Boston Police and federal agents aimed at breaking up the Columbia Point Dawgs, which grew over 30 years from a small gang at the old Columbia Point housing project into a large-scale gun and drug enterprise spanning the East Coast.

Abercrombie is not the first Columbia Point Dawgs alum to be arrested on new charges. Last October, Herbert "HB" Small, who was convicted of conspiracy to distribute heroin, crack and cocaine while a gang member, was arrested fon charges he sold guns and crack to a buyer who turned out to be working undercover for ATF. A trial date for him has yet to be set.
