311 complaint of the day: The calliope crashed to the ground, but she was blinded by the light
By adamg on Thu, 12/12/2024 - 10:01am
A bleary-eyed resident files a 311 complaint about the seeming spotlights blaring out of a building under construction at 125 Broad St. downtown:
Entire building is unoccupied with all floors under construction. Light shines extremely bright from all floors. construction lights out all of its upper floors 24/7/365 and is impacting neighborhood living conditions. The light from the empty residential floors shines like a beacon 24/7 to the residents living across the street. This light pollution causes sleep disorders for residents that live at 110 Broad at.

Springsteen & Smith cowrote the song. Different lyrics, except for the refrain. They perform it together with a barband from Ireland:

Cantone's
I wonder how this resident would have liked Broad Street in the late 70s when the long gone Cantones was blasting out live punk bands every night of the week. Lou Miami & The Kozmetix had a residency there every Monday night. There were specials too. One Monday, for example, it would be free admission (which was usually only $3 anyway) if you wore a rubber glove. When the Pope came to town in 1979, there was free admission for people dressed like the Pope. Fun days!
Xmas Lights
I'm glad Clark finally got the Christmas lights to work.
He sure did
