Two shot, one dead in Egleston Square

UPDATE: Boston Police identify the murder victim as Brianna Bigby, 23.

Police are in the area of Columbus Avenue and Washington Street where two people were shot around 3:20 p.m., with one victim dead.

Police are looking for a black SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, with tinted windows, which left the scene at a high rate of speed. It was occupied by two black males, both beefy, with the driver bald. It sideswiped two vehicles on the passenger side on Abbotsford Road before disappearing completely.

The shooting comes after this morning's double shooting on Humboldt Avenue.

Four shot, ten hours apart, within the same neighborhood and no arrests? Just the latest in Boston's "Wild West" spring. Is Menino well enough yet to be rolled out to mutter "one city" or some other nonsense?

With commencements winding down, has Ed Davis finished picking up all those honorary degrees, apparently on behalf of the Watertown Police Sergeant and the civilian boat owner who actually caught the terrorists?

I hope I'm wrong, but the next Tiffanie Moore or Jermaine Goffigan, innocent Boston children caught in the crossfire under Menino's regime, won't be too far off with this nightly mayhem.

Everyone knows nobody ever got shot in Roxbury before this spring, am I right?

When you were on the State Police, did you have all major crimes neatly wrapped up in ten hours?

Although it takes more than 10 hours, the police could sweep Roxbury for black SUVs a la Watertown. But they won't. Boston could put feet in the street in hot spots, but won't; it's hard to find a police officer patrolling in these areas. We know that these shootings are really all happening in a neighborhood of ~60,000 but the police are powerless to patrol these areas or enforce the law.

Just a wild guess, but I'm betting this party at 1:50 AM probably had complaints and should have been shut down. But not handling the situation early, it just gets worse later.

Unless Boston Police gets serious about actually patrolling hot spots and enforcing the law rather than just reactively trying to find shooters after the fact, this is going to be a violent summer.

relax its summer time and ever city has shootings during hot days like this. im sure down in NYC or even DC they had 2x as many shootings. plus its the weekend

overall boston still has only like 20 homicides and dont even average a shooting a day so thats not too shaby.

As long as someone dies that's shaby to me. Because we are not as bad and NYC or DC, we should relax? As a survivor who lost someone, I will never see people die to violence and relax. Just to let you know in case you decide to rebuttal. The loved one that I lost was a man of God who had recently moved here to a quiet neighborhood to get away from the craziness in which he knew back home. He died because someone decided that the money he WORKED for and his life was so easily disposable. I pray to God that you never have to feel this pain. If you did, relax would be the last word in your vocabulary.

"Shaby"?

2x as many shootings in a city with population ten times the size of Boston's, it must be Wild West out there. We need stop and frisk here like in NYC, so gun charges don't get tossed left and right like McDonald's bags on Blue Hill Ave sidewalks. What good are tough gun laws if charges never stick?

The actual City of Boston is comparable to Washington D.C or Baltimore. In this respect Boston doesn't have near the level of extreme violent crime and homicides these two cities just down the coast have. That said, the issue of constant, extreme violent crime, especially gun related crime, shooting, murders, has ALWAYS been a problem in a few predictable neighborhoods, even just a few sections, streets, housing projects, within these neighborhoods. This is not new. It's been this way at least my entire life, and I'm 40. The only difference is it was less spread out a problem when I was a kid, the violence has now spread of the 'ghetto' into surrounding metro area, probably as people are forced to move from areas that are now becoming gentrified, into 'less desirable' metro cities and towns. And this stretches from Manchester/Southern N.H., to metro west, all the way down to New Bedford and the southcoast, even R.I. Boston doesn't exist in a vacuum. People live, travel, work, socialize, shop, freely between Boston,Brookline,Cambridge, Somerville, Quincy, Malden, Revere, Medford, Newton, etc., The 'city' is really much bigger than it appears on paper.

Boston doesn't ex
