Man shot in the head with a BB gun in robbery attempt behind Hyde Park restaurant
By adamg on Fri, 04/10/2015 - 9:27pm
A man coming out of the Fairmount Grille on Fairmount Avenue around 9:10 tonight found himself surrounded in the parking lot by four teens who demanded a bag he had. One shot him in the head with a BB gun, then they all ran away.
They're described as black, between 13 and 17, all dressed in black.

Which parking lot?
The Fairmount grille doesn't have its own lot.....which lot was it? Hope the guy is ok!
Good question
The cops referred to a parking lot behind the restaurant.
Behind
There are some parking spaces behind and beside the restaurant for the apartments or condos above it that perhaps are being referred to as a parking lot. They are not for restaurant goers however. Alternatively it could be the parking spaces in the open lot across the street or down by the commuter rail stop.
I'm sure the guy
with the softball sized welt in his head is concerned about the "parking lot" details of this story. Head bleeding is secondary to there's no parking lot there".

These fake gun stories are always reported
as a BB gun. Most likely they mean an airsoft, which look very realistic. Being shot in the head by one is painless, unless of course it knocked your eye out. But I can imagine the momentary terror this guy felt as it appeared the kid was actually going to shoot him with a real gun.
Another type of gun is a pellet gun/rifle, or air gun. They shoot .17 and .22 calibre lead pellets. Some can fire at 1000fps. They can hurt you, even break skin, penetrate bone. But they're mostly rifles, and mostly single shot.
Actually, air gun pistols are
Actually, air gun pistols are very common, look more realistic than airsoft, and shoot up to around 500-550fps. The pistols are generally a lot cheaper then their rifle counterparts too
