Panhandler stabbed near I-93 ramp in Chinatown

A man panhandling near Lincoln Street and the basketball court at the I-93 ramp in Chinatown was stabbed in a fight around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The 48-year-old victim was transported to Tufts Medical Center, where he told investigators that he was panhandling in the area when he became involved in an altercation with another man. In the course of that altercation, the assailant stabbed him twice. His injuries were not life-threatening.

State Police are looking for a middle-aged Latino man, about 5'11" with a dark complexion and long, dark hair. He had a green camo backpack.

Actually, there isn't much panhandling at this intersection. Usually just one person panhandling the one approach and none on the others. Plenty of intersections you have one person working each approach and one or two where it seems like they divide lanes between them.
