Two arrested on gun charges after traffic stop in Egleston Square

Boston Police report arresting two people they say were being driven around Egleston Square with guns and ammo in their possession yesterday afternoon.

Police say officers from the South Boston drug unit got a tip they'd find some guns in a car in the area of Egleston Square around 2 p.m.

After pulling the car over, police say, they found Asuasha Griffiths, 26, of Mattapan, in the back seat, with a fanny pack containing "a Polymer 80 9MM semiautomatic firearm" and two magazines, one a 17-round model loaded with 8 bullets.

Joseph Vilburn, 20, of Dorchester, sitting in the front, had a backpack " containing a Colt .38 Special revolver with four live rounds inside the cylinder," police say

Griffiths was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say, adding Vilburn was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

In 2017, Griffiths, then living in Malden, was arrested on gun charges after being ordered out of a car on Darlington Street in Mattapan, again after police received a tip about her.
