Police: Man failed to get gas at Allston station because it was closed, instead got arrested on gun charges
Boston Police report arresting a Hingham man at gun charges at the Gulf station at Western Avenue and North Harvard Street in Allston early this morning.
Police say officers and state troopers pulled into the closed station around 12:10 a.m. when they saw a car stopped there, and a man they say was a bit wobbly as he got out to try to pump some gas:
Officers observed the driver to be unsteady on his feet as he exited the motor vehicle to get gas. Officers informed the driver, later identified as Christopher Hiltz, 33, of Hingham, that the gas station was closed for business.
Hiltz, still unsteady on his feet, began reaching into his pockets. Officers performed a pat frisk of Mr. Hiltz and recovered a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm firearm with 6 rounds of ammunition in the magazine. A second magazine was recovered containing 7 additional rounds.
Hiltz was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
Innocent, etc.

Well, now
I'm sure this fine upchucking criminal was simply carrying a piece because there are all these scary criminals in the city!
Only Criminal
Apparently only criminal in that area at that time was the man who got arrested from Hingham.
Apparently under some forms of intoxicant driving and carrying a firearm.
It seemed like the elements of a criminal to me.
Good call, blue
I'm sure plenty of folks stop at closed gas stations to take a call or check a map. Nice work to target and correctly ID this guy as a gun (expletive).
Agreed, but
In this case, it sounds like he was fiddling with the pump, trying to make it work. A bit more of a red flag than sitting in your car talking on the phone.
Ah yes
It does say right there in the frickin' story that he got out to use the pump. Reading fail on my part. The damn thing gone blind, bam-a-lam.
Those pumps are accessible after closing
Just recently I got gas at that station after they had closed by using a credit card. The pumps stay on after they close, which changes this story somewhat.
Graffito from that Gulf station, seen 11/13/2016
might still be there:
Not true
The kid wasn't getting gas, he broke down a block away and him and a friend had pushed the car in there and it happen to park in front of a pump. The cops came out of nowhere and illegally searched him. I'll say for this kid f those Brighton cops
