For second day in a row, police respond to a report of a student with a gun, this time in South Boston - although he was arrested in Dorchester
Boston Police report arresting Jamari Searcy, 18, of South Boston, on Island View Place in the Harbor Point development in Dorchester this afternoon after first receiving a report he was at Excel High School in South Boston with the gun.
Police say officers from District C-11 went to Island View Place around noon after officers from District C-6 who had responded to a call for a person with a gun at Excel reported that Searcy had left there and was headed to Harbor Point.
While canvassing the [Harbor Point] area, they observed a male matching the given description as he attempted to enter a motor vehicle. Officers stopped the suspect and detained him after confirming his identity while continuing their investigation. Officers then obtained information from Longwood Security staff members that the suspect had been observed discarding a backpack prior to the officer’s arrival. The discarded backpack was soon located in the described location at which time officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver from inside of it.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say, adding they are working with Boston School Police to determine whether he actually had the loaded gun with him while inside Excel, 95 G St.
Yesterday, administrators at Up Academy Holland in Dorchester found a 7 year old with a gun there.
Innocent, etc.
