Roxbury market robbed at gunpoint in the middle of yesterday's torrents; soggy suspect arrested not long after
Boston Police report arresting a South Boston man on charges he held up La Familia market, 64A Blue Hill Ave. at Moreland Street in Roxbury around 10:35 a.m. on Monday.
Sylvester Forde, 23, was arrested a few minutes later and a few blocks away at Waverly and Perrin streets.
Officers immediately observed what they believed to be a handle of a firearm, protruding from the suspect’s jacket pocket. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and the firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Forde was charged with armed robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say.
