By City Councillor John Tobin... on Fri, 03/20/2009 - 3:13pm.
The purpose of the hearing was to find out more about the Neighborhood Impact Commission, which was established under the Boston City Code (CBC 10-7). The hearing was scheduled to take place following national Sunshine Week (March 15-21, 2009), an effort to call attention to the importance of transparency in government and freedom of information. I filed the order calling for the hearing in February to find out who the commission members were and if they had issued any reports. My office was informed by Menino Administration officials that the commission exists only on paper and that the seats on the commission remain unfilled.
