Historical artifacts: Still at least two Brigham's open
By adamg on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 3:14pm
Both at the South Shore Plaza, at least as of a couple hours ago. Both are on the first floor; one's a full-service restaurant, the other's a smaller ice-cream only place. Both now only take cash.

Arlington Brigham's
The Arlington Heights store is still open, but sheriff's deputies closed the flagship on Milll Street in Arlington last Friday.
the one at the Burlington
the one at the Burlington Mall is closed now too. =( I was there about 1 week ago - they were cash only, and then when I went to there on thursday it was all boarded up. =(
All company-owned Brigham's stores now closed
from Saturday's Herald: Brigham’s owner shuts 12 shops. But still no bankruptcy filing. WTF?
Brigham's Belmont?
Is the Belmont Brigham's located at the corner of Belmont St and Trapello Rd still open? If it closes, that would be a good location for a wine bar.
No wine bar!
In my humble, very-Brigham's-experienced opinion, the Belmont Brigham's is the flagship and, like when the very last Bailey's which was also in Belmont closed nearby, would be a very sad day if this closed! Perish your wine bar thinking!!
Yes Winebar or Gastropub
Belmont Brigham's would make a good location for something modeled on The Butcher Shop in the South End.
We got icecream at the Belmont Brigham's once but was turned off by how dirty the place was.
I'm sure that we will be stuck with the dirty Brigham's for a long time. Even if they close, I'm sure that neighborhood wouldn't let in any establishment that serves liquor. And given how hard it is to get a liquor license in Belmont it would be a long project. Belmont seems to prefer empty store fronts.
I think I'll move to Brooklyn.
Belmont is open
I just called the Belmont Brigham's - they are still open. Headed there for what may be my last Great American tonight!
Was There
Not too long ago. I guess I'd better get there again, soon.

Wollaston
The Wollaston store is still open, or was as of yesterday.
Get your Lime Rickeys while
Get your Lime Rickeys while you can. And a bowl of Fruit Pudding if they still serve it.
Fruit Pudding?
I believe you mean Frozen Pudding, not Fruit Pudding. Which, now that you mention it, I did not see listed among their ice cream flavors when I was at the Belmont Brigham's this evening. It's usually a Christmas flavor, so maybe they're having respect for Thanksgiving...(which comes first, y'know.)
You're right - it's so long
You're right - it's so long since they've sold it at supermarkets that I forgot the name.
There's a Brighams at the
There's a Brighams at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers and a Brighams in the food court at the Northshore Mall...
Brigham's store locator
http://www.brighamsrestaurants.com/ has a Store Locator showing 19 Brigham's locations, plus a few independents such as iScreamWorks in West Roxbury and Helen's in Concord. But since it still includes two stores that we know are closed (High St in Boston and Mill St in Arlington), I have no idea whether the rest of the list is up to date.
I'm told that the Arlington Heights and Belmont stores have the same independent local ownership, so even if Deal Metrics LLC goes completely bust, these two will still be open.
Belmont & Arlington Heights
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Belmont & Arlington Heights shops are independently owned and have the same owners - both shops have a refreshing atmosphere where the young staff take clear pride in the quality of their product and they're really pleasant and friendly.
Last night the two who were working the Belmont shop said that as far as they knew they were in no danger, but they did seem really nervous! Although who wouldn't be with that kind of news hitting the papers.
Do these stores get to buy whatever products....
...they need and want from their own sources? If not, if the whole operation goes down, they could conceivably run into some sort of supply problems.
Products
Other than the Brigham's ice cream (which doesn't seem to be affected by the shop closings) I don't think there's anything they would get from corporate HQ that they can't source on their own.
Brigham's of Belmont -- and Arlington Heights and Wakefield
all apparently have the same owner and their own separate website, BrighamsOfBelmont.com.
The site seems a bit hastily thrown together, and has some missing info (the menu and catering menu) and broken links ('Arlington' and 'Belmont' and 'Wakefield' at the bottom).
