WHDH reports on a multi-vehicle crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike Friday night that sent a truck over the Jersey barriers and onto the Framingham Line right of way, where it stopped right at the tracks.

Teddy Kokoros reports he was on his usual bus ride from Watertown into Boston around 7:15 this morning when he looked out the window in the Pru Tunnel to see a car fully engulfed in flames on the Copley offramp. Sounds like the car occupants were able to get out OK, at least, neither BFD nor State Police called for an ambulance.
Streetsblog Massachusetts reports that for the second year in a row, the federal government has turned down a state request to help pay for the major reconstruction of the Massachusetts Turnpike near where the toll plazas used to be in Allston.

WCVB reports somebody driving outbound on the inbound side of the turnpike tonight slammed into somebody head on just before the Pru tunnel, then managed to disengage from that and keep going, hitting more vehicles.

The Globe reports Washington has rejected a state request to pay like $1.2 billion towards plans to rebuild and relocate the overhead stretch of the Massachusetts Turnpike in the area of where the Allston/Cambridge tolls used to be.

Massachusetts yesterday sued a driver from upstate New York for the $1.85 million in damage it says he caused when the boom of the excavator he was hauling on a flatbed slammed into a turnpike overpass and then, 30 miles down the road, slammed into another overpass, after which the excavator fell off the flatbed and took out a stretch of guardrail. A Miami developer has proposed a new complex over the Massachusetts Turnpike and a rarely used Hynes Green Line exit that would include a 12-story life-sciences wing, a 10-story wing with 125 affordable apartments, two new ADA-compliant T-stop entrances and a public bicycle "hub" with bike racks and lockers. State Police report a Waltham man lost control of his Harley-Davidson inbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Allston, hit the median barrier and died around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
Mark Ganong, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police say.
