24 arrested at Bank of America protest

BPD Supt. William Evans made one of the first arrests.

The protesters were taken away from the bank's Federal Street building when they attempted a sit-in as a protest against the bank's lending and foreclosure policies.

The six who I saw arrested at the bank's front entrance went peacefully when police asked them to stand and hag plastic restraints put on. The six had taken up position in groups of two at the doors. Boston Police Superintendent William Evans made the first arrest.

Some 1,500 people participated in the protest, organizers of Take Back Boston say.

As the Occupy Boston forces gear up to occupy the space in front of South Station on Friday, participants in another protest will be marching around the Financial District - before settling down for a sit-in at Bank of America's Massachusetts headquarters on Federal Street.

Gunfire and explosions downtown today probably just simulated

Boston Police advise that parts of Federal and Milk streets will be closed today for filming of "RIPD," a movie about a cop and his ghost partner (what, you thought it was about Rhode Island?) and that crews will be setting off what might just sound like guns and bombs.

The Globe reports that Brightcove, which offers a platform for online video, will be moving from its current Kendall Square space to new offices at 280 Congress St.

Charlestown bakery to expand to the other side of the harbor

Sorelle Bakery and Cafe wants to open a location at 282 Congress St. near South Station.

Owner Marc Perelman told the Boston Licensing Board yesterday he's planning something very similar to his Charlestown location, with 16 seats inside and 14 seats outdoors, with hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The board voted today to give Perelman a food-serving license. He needs permission from the city Public Improvement Commission to install the outdoor seating on a city sidewalk.

... Be careful crossing Franklin and Devonshire streets. There is a hole in the street where they have been doing construction and I fell right into it and bruised up my legs pretty good.

The hole is about 6 inches around and my entire left leg up to my knee fell in as I toppled face forward into the street. Then, I was stuck and could not stand up without the help of a couple of people that were around me. ...
