Boston Restaurant Talk reports the demise of Georgetown Cupcake - named for the DC neighborhood - on Newbury Street.

Sure, you thought we'd passed Peak Cupcake long ago, but Boston Restaurant Talk reports a place called Little Miss Cupcape (it's based in Hyannis) is opening at 250 Newbury St. Can a froyo revival be far behind?
Monumental Cupcakes reports it's been sold and its South Street storefront will be turned into something else. To its credit, the place survived long past Peak Cupcake and outlast most other Boston-area places with "Cupcakes" in their names - although unlike many of those other places, it also offered baked goods besides cupcakes.
The Boston Business Journal reports Crumbs is opening an outlet that will feature not only cupcakes, but pushup cupcakes in a tube and some mutant bagel/croissant thing.
The Boston Business Journal reports that Crumbs, the high-priced cupcake chain with an outlet on Federal Street, has shut down. Apparently, the once hot cupcake market has cooled off (right, Todd?); we hear self-serve froyo is still going strong, in case anybody wants to move into the old Crumbs space.
The Boston Foodie reports people stood in line for two hours on Saturday for the opening of a new cupcake joint on Newbury Street:
Mike the Mad Biologist is mad that his neighborhood is getting another damn cupcake outlet, when residents can't even buy a loaf of fresh bread.
Observant Jews who might be jonesing for some serious cupcake action after Passover will have to avoid the new Crumbs on Federal Street - it's the only Crumbs that isn't kosher.
Sugar on Washington Street in Roslindale was selling these cupcakes today.
Megan shows us cupcakes by the bushel at yesterday's CupcakeCamp in Somerville.
The Boston Foodie considers the Yelp backlash, as exemplified by a sign in the window of Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square.

Carolyn Grantham alerts us to the existence of deep-fried cupcakes, at Kick Ass Cupcakes:
... We ate it walking down the street, our faces smeared with chocolate syrup and cream. It's not something one can consume delicately or with any pretense of sophistication. It's also something best shared; a whole one may just finish off a healthy person of average size. ...
Now if you have the cojones to call your cupcakes "KickAss" don't you think there should be a shred of that bravado in the product?
I heard about KickAss Cupcakes from a friend and the name was so enticing, that I couldn't wait to check it out. I've had delicious cupcakes from the hot spots in NYC and had hoped that this was a local-neighborhood spot that could rival those cupcake Meccas.
Some Assembly Required and spouse head over to Davis Square for some of the new cupcakes; he reports they're either seriously over-priced at $2.75 or under-sized. He adds:
... Saturday we stopped in Ball Square to get a snack at Lyndell's bakery. They make some pretty great pastries; I'm quite partial to their raspberry danish. And they also make cupcakes, which are generously sized and cost 90 cents each.
Those were tears of joy on Yup's face when she learned, after a bad day, that Davis Square is getting a cupcake store with a take-no-prisoners name.
Chef Brad Brown of the Blue Frog Bakery got really creative for Halloween this year and baked the cupcakes from every protective parent's nightmares. SPOOKY!
