The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that prosecutors can use photos found on the phone of Hyde Park man against him when he comes to trial on gun charges related to a 2011 gun battle outside his apartment.

Why this problem in Massachusetts burdens my soul!
With the rising rents in South Boston, I'm thinking about moving to Dorchester. I realize that Dorchester is very big and that some parts are safe while other parts are less safe. What is the crime situation in Fields Corner, particularly around Geneva Street between Park Street and Bowdoin Street? I'm thinking about renting an apartment on Westville Street near Up Academy (John Marshall Elementary School). I've heard mixed things. Would it be safe to walk from the Fields Corner T station to the elementary school at night?
I was one of three people who had their cars broken into on Friday afternoon at Quincy Adams T station garage. Golf clubs were stolen out of my trunk and my window was smashed. One of the other unlucky souls mentioned a laptop being stolen and both of the other victims had much more extensive window damage. Oh, they also keyed the side of my car just for kicks.
Being that this is the second incident in the past six months, I vote that we up the security in the garage please.

A convicted sex offender was sentenced to ten years in federal prison on a child-pornography charge last week, after admitting ownership of the files an FBI agent found on his computer via a file-sharing network.
William F. Murphy, a resident of Boston's only trailer park, initially told investigators he was only doing research to determine whether his girlfriend, with whom he was living, had been forced as a child to engage in sexual acts by a child-porn ring he wanted to expose, according to an affidavit by an FBI agent who investigated his case. He claimed he had tried to present the evidence to Boston Police, but that they had turned him away because of his status as a sex offender - he was convicted in 1988 of raping his 9-year-old stepdaughter.
Natick Police report a grab-and-run robbery at the Natick Collection on Monday.
At around 7 p.m., police say, two men entered the Gucci store there and began to collect purses before quickly running out. Police say they got away with only nine purses, but they were worth a total of $9,500.
Recent months have seen a spate of similar robberies at high-end stores apparel and accessories stores in the Back Bay.
Boston Police report a limo driver who'd just pulled up to Blessed Mother Teresa Church Saturday afternoon with members of a bridal party in back was punched and pushed out of the vehicle by a guy who had apparently just broken into a nearby house:
