Trumpies on an overpass

A roving UHub photographer spotted a couple of gaggles of Trump supporters by and above the Expressway at South Bay today - some on the Southampton Street overpass, some along Frontage Road, all just up the road from the pro-Harris billboard at the IBEW hall.

In the year since city police and public-works crews cleared out a growing encampment of homeless people and drug users on Atkinson Street, Mass and Cass has seen a significant decrease in crime and quality-of-life problems, officials from Boston's police and public-health departments told city councilors at a hearing by the council's committee on public safety and criminal justice. Transit Police report that when the driver of a T bus near South Bay tried to get three disorderly teens to quiet down, one of them shot him with a BB gun, around 6 p.m. on Monday. The three then jumped off the bus, but police report they found them in Andrew Square and arrested the alleged shooter. The operator declined medical attention, police say.

A worker at the South Bay Stop & Shop, 1100 Massachusetts Ave. in Dorchester, was stabbed shortly before 10 p.m. by somebody in a group of eight to nine men who fled the scene. Read more.

A man is being held pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday after he and two of his four daughters punched a security guard during a fight at the AMC Movie Theater at South Bay Friday night that started in front of Boston Police offices and after security guards asked him and his kids to leave because he was sexually harassing female workers, including asking them out on dates, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. So far tonight, burst pipes caused by the sudden freeze have forced three hospitals to send patients elsewhere, left Wang Theatre patrons out in the cold, angrily yelling to be let back in, and flooded a floor at the Prudential Center mall. Read more.

The BPDA says a developer that took over a 14-unit condo building near the South Bay mall sold two units for several hundred thousand dollars more than it was supposed to under a city program aimed at ensuring at least some people of moderate means can keep living in Boston. Read more.

WFXT reports the state Attorney General's office has determined Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins did nothing criminal when she started yelling at another motorist in a traffic dispute at the South Bay Mall in December.

However, the station continues, the AG's office has forwarded its files to the state Ethics Commission for a look.

A developer wants to put up a three-building complex with a mix of apartments, condos and commercial and office space in an industrial area off Allstate Road that is increasingly being transformed into a new multi-family residential and office area behind the new wing of the South Bay Mall. City Councilor Ayanna Pressley (at large) wants to ask the state legislature to give Boston the ability to issue 153 new liquor licenses, mostly in neighborhoods not served by cash-rich outlets of national chain restaurants - and to issue "umbrella" licenses that would allow unlimited numbers of alcohol-serving eateries at really big developments in the city, such as the South Bay Town Center now opening up in Dorchester and the Seaport Square project under development in South Boston. UPDATE: Victim identified as Joshua Briggs, 22, of Dorchester.

Rick Macomber reports a man was shot overnight at the Holiday Inn Express, 69 Boston St. at South Bay, and that he was declared dead in his fifth-floor room.

The Globe reports police say he was targeted.
