Officers investigating lights on at the Washington Irving School on Cummins Highway around 11 p.m. saw four males in their mid-teens run out. They nabbed three of them on Cummins Highway and on Hawthorne Street - one with the help of a search dog - and recovered a projector.

A developer is looking to build several condos on land behind the Triple Eatery on Cummins Highway.
At a neighborhood meeting tonight, Patrick Mahoney showed a rendering of a building with eight two-bedroom units with 16 parking spaces that would replace the single-family home that now sits on the oddly shaped, mostly landlocked, 15,000-square foot parcel. Read more.

Two non-profit groups have filed plans with the BRA to replace the old Cote Ford dealership at Cummins Highway and Regis Road with a 76 apartments - 52 in an apartment building and 24 in three townhouse buildings.
The Planning Office for Urban Affairs and Caribbean Integration Community Development say the proposed Cote Village, next to the planned Cummins Highway stop on the Fairmount Line, would remove a neighborhood blight and provide much needed affordable housing in a transit-oriented development. Dervin Hibbert, 54, faces up to 15 years in prison following his conviction today on charges he drunkenly drove a minivan backwards down Cummins Highway on Nov. 23, 2013, hitting and dragging Walter Harris to his death, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
The jury found Hibbert guilty of motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence; it deadlocked on convicting him of the more serious charge of motor-vehicle homicide. Read more.

When the New Yorker stopped into Triple Eatery on Cummins Highway tonight, he left the key in the ignition.
Surprise! The car was missing when he walked out with his food.
Fortunately for him, a BPD dispatcher issued a BOLO and officers soon spotted and stopped the car on Washington Street, just before Green, in Jamaica Plain. Driver and car were taken to E-5 in West Roxbury for a reunion.

Boston Police report a traffic stop at Hyde Park Avenue and Cummins Highway in Roslindale on Sunday ended with the driver - already wanted by the feds for deportation - under arrest and two guns, ammunition, cocaine, heroin and peanut brittle headed for an evidence locker.
Police say officers on patrol around 11:45 a.m. ordered a driver to pull over to the curb because his windows seemed excessively dark.

UPDATE: After surrounding the school and sending in a search dog, police did not find the intruder, Stanley Staco reports. The guy apparently smashed a ground-floor window to gain entry.
Police are investigating a break-in at the Irving Middle School on Cummins Highway tonight. As officers surrounded the school and waited to unleash a police dog in the halls, they received word that a house on Sheldon Street, which runs into Cummins across from the school, had been broken into as well.

UPDATE, Sunday morning: A BPS spokesman says school will open on a regular schedule tomorrow. BPS teams are currently assessing the cost of fixing the damage, he says, adding he does not yet know if the alleged vandals were Irving students.
Boston Police report arresting two of the three teenagers they say smashed up ten classrooms at the Irving Middle School on Cummins Highway early this morning.
Police say an alarm brought officers to the school around 1:45 a.m.:

A Mattapan man was indicted earlier this month on charges he killed a man just standing on the sidewalk on Cummins Highway last November.
Dervin Hibbert, 53, was arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court on charges of manslaughter by motor vehicle and motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, which carry minimum mandatory terms of five years and one year, respectively, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Seems somebody didn't know how to stop at the end of Cummins Highway in Roslindale Square early this morning and plowed right into the entrance of Adams Park. A couple of concerned citizens filed complaints about the poor cleanup by the DPW at what is a main entrance to the morning's farmers' market, which, as we know, is one of the biggest in the city.
Farmer's market is happening with lots of people and it seems a bit dangerous.
