What began as a pre-Halloween costume party at a North Station club ended in early morning mayhem, with two cops injured, an EMT whacked with a boot, a club manager hit in the face with a purse, at least one woman's wig ripped off her head, three arrested and a group of about 20 women assembling to brawl in the street outside, police told the Boston Licensing Board today. A Newton real-estate investment firm today filed plans for a 40-story tower with 400 residential units, 320 hotel rooms and a two-level garage underground garage with 150 parking spaces between Causeway, North Washington and Medford streets - a block that forms the top angle of the Bulfinch Triangle. A Randolph man faces a variety of charges after he allegedly ran a woman down outside North Station early this morning, while a couple of his pals face charges that they made asses of themselves at the scene and then again at the police station, where they were arrested after allegedly chest bumping cops and challenging them to a fight, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The Karaage ($12) is Japanese-style fried chicken with a spicy garlic soy sauce. ... First, this dish was ample, with plenty of pieces of fried chicken, and was large enough to share. Second, the fried coating was crunchy and flavorful, enhanced by the spicy garlic soy. There was plenty of moist chicken inside the crisp coating, and the dish definitely is near the top of my favorite karaage dishes.

Formerly flaming T at Tavern in the Square

Rob Baird watched this morning as firefighters doused the flaming T that used to help spell out "Tavern in the Square."

The Zoning Board of Appeal today rejected a billboard company's plan to stick a 24-hour electronic billboard on top of the Dunkin' Donuts on Causeway Street at Lancaster Street, across from the Tip O'Neill Building. Read more.

A crane’s cable snapped right outside of hub on causeway causing massive steel beams to drop several stories. Doesn’t look like anyone was injured. Building shook violently.
