An Avon man who showed a gun to another motorist as they hurtled down the outbound Expressway this morning now faces a variety of charges, State Police say - adding they are still considering whether to charge the other driver, a Boston man, because they say he flashed a knife during the rolling incident. Roving UHub photographer Tim Murphy reports that as he was getting on the Expressway northbound at Neponset Circle, so was this woman on a bike. She then managed to "claim" the right lane at 10 to 15 m.p.h.
The Santander Bank branch at 780 Gallivan Blvd. was held up around 3:10 p.m. by two young white men in hoodies, both 5'7" or 5'8", who ran up Gallivan towards Hallet Street - based on the money with an exploded dye pack police found on Clover Street. One suspect, in a black hoodie, wore a surgical mask.

A concerned citizen wonders how somebody in a wheelchair is supposed to cross Neponset Circle until the new year:
Neponset Circle is hostile enough to pedestrians without putting trees in the middle of crosswalks. How is this ADA compliant? Can't the tree go on the other side of the clock where it won't block the handicap ramps?
State Police report a two-car crash on I-93 north at Neponset Circle around 11:30 a.m. left both cars on their roofs, four people injured and the road completely shut into town.

State Police, of course, closed Morrissey Boulevard early this morning, which is what you can expect from a road built roughly two inches above sea level next to a bay. And that, naturally, meant shutting the exit to Morrissey off I-93 northbound.

Upstairs Downstairs, shut since a seven-stabbing closing in February, goes before the Boston Licensing Board next Wednesday for permission to sell its liquor license to the owner of a proposed downtown restaurant.
Bar owner Arthur Sutliffe had originally negotiated with the Boston Tea Party Museum, but next week's hearing lists the proposed buyer as Sterling's, a restaurant on the first floor of 60 State St. that would be managed by Vincent Polcari and which is seeking permission to stay open until 2 a.m. and run an outdoor patio.
The following is a letter, signed by 90 people, that was submitted to the Boston Licensing Board and the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing before their hearings this week on the seven-stabbing closing in February at the Neponset Circle bar (the licensing board meets this morning to consider what action, if any, to take):
Robert Paul, 40, could be arraigned today on a variety of charges related to a Thursday incident that led to a massive manhunt across Dorchester - and possibly him with a bullet wound to his leg.
Paul was hospitalized at Mass. General this morning after his arrest last night in Lynn, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
A lawyer for Upstairs, Downstairs, shut since seven people were stabbed in February, said today the bar's owner is in the process of selling its liquor license to the Boston Tea Party Museum.
Meanwhile, a Boston police detective says that while police now have a suspect for the stabbings, which sent a bar bouncer to the hospital near death, the investigation is being hampered because none of the five patrons who were stabbed want to cooperate.
UPDATE: State Police report arresting Brandon Smith, 25, of Dorchester at the Saint Francis House, a homeless shelter on Boylston Street, where he was detained by Boston Police around 2 p.m. He's scheduled for arraignment tomorrow in Dorchester District Court on a charge of receiving stolen property - the stolen car that hit the trooper.
State and Boston police launched a massive manhunt across Dorchester and Mattapan this morning after a trooper directing traffic at Neponset Circle was hit by a stolen car whose driver fled the scene even as at least one other trooper started shooting at him.
